BASIC KNOWLEDGE FOR THE DESIGN AND VERIFICATION OF REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES BOTH FOR SERVICEABILITY AND ULTIMATE LIMIT STATES.
SKILLS ON: BUILDING MATERIALS; CONSTRUCTION ACTIONS; THE "SEMIPROBABILISTIC LIMIT STATE METHOD".
KNOWLEDGE OF THE METHODS FOR THE "STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS" UNDER STATIC ACTIONS, WITH REFERENCE TO ISOSTATIC AND HYPERSTATIC BEAMS AND TO THE BEAM SYSTEMS (FRAMES AND BEAMS).
BASIC KNOWLEDGE FOR THE CALCULATION OF RIGID FOUNDATION BEAMS ON ELASTIC SOIL.

KNOWELDGE AND UNDERSTANDIG:

KNOW HOW TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED AND GET THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND TECHNICAL PROBLEMS.

THEORY AND TECHNIQUE OF REINFORCED CONCRETE SECTIONS IN NON-LINEAR FIELD (THEORY HOURS. 15; EXERCISES HOURS 10; LABORATORY HOURS 2): SEMIPROBABILISTIC LIMIT STATES METHOD, DESIGN RESISTANCES AND DESIGN ACTIONS, LOADS COMBINATION.
ULTIMATE LIMIT STATES (SLU) AND SERVICEBILITY LIMIT STATES (SLE): INTRODUCTION.
S.L.U. FOR NORMAL STRESS: RECTANGULAR SECTION UNDER BENDING MOMENT AND UNDER AXIAL LOAD AND BENDING MOMENT; RESISTANCE DOMAINS; S.L.U. FOR SHEAR STRESS;

THEORY AND TECHNIQUE OF REINFORCED CONCRETE SECTIONS IN LINEAR FIELD (THEORY HOURS. 10; EXERCISES HOURS 7; LABORATORY HOURS 2): THE THEORY OF CALCULATION OF SECTIONS IN ELASTIC FIELD.
CALCULATION OF REINFORCED CONCRETE ELEMENTS.
SERVICEABILITY LIMIT STATE: STRESS LIMITATION, DEFORMATION, CRACKING.
EXERCISE ACTIVITY: SERVICIABILITY LIMIT STATE VERIFICATION OF A RC FLOOR.

ANALYSIS OF FRAME STRUCTURES (THEORY HOURS 20; EXERCISES HOURS 10): STRUCTURAL MODELS, ACTIONS. ANALYSIS OF 2-DIMENSIONAL ELASTIC FRAMES: FORCE METHOD AND DISPLACEMENT METHOD. RELAXATION METHODS. MATRIX ANALYSIS OF FRAME STRUCTURES.
EXERCISE ACTIVITY: DESIGN AND VERIFICATION OF A REINFORCED CONCRETE FRAME WITH REFERENCE TO ULTIMATE LIMIT STATES.

RIGID FOUNDATION BEAMS ON ELASTIC SOIL (THEORY HOURS. 5; EXERCISES HOURS 2): MODEL OF THE SOIL FOUNDATION; DIRECT FOUNDATION: PLINTH AND RIGID BEAMS.
Teaching Methods
TEACHING INCLUDES 90 HOURS OF LECTURES CORRESPONDING TO 9 CFU. IN PARTICULAR, IT IS DEVELOPED BY MEANS OF LESSONS ON THEORY (ABOUT 60% - 5.5 CFU), EXERCISES IN THE CLASSROOM (ABOUT 35% - 3 CFU) AND PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES IN LABORATORY (ABOUT 5% - 0.5 CFU). THE EXERCISES IN THE CLASSROOM CONSIST ON THE APPLICATION OF THE STUDIED TOPICS AND ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF TWO PROJECTS: CONCRETE-BRICK FLOOR AND CONCRETE REINFORCED FRAME WITH TWO SPAN AND TWO STOREY. ATTENDANCE AT COURSES IS COMPULSORY FOR AT LEAST 70% OF TEACHING HOURS
NECESSARY FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PLANNED PROGRAM. THE FREQUENCY IS CHECKEDTHROUGH MAGNETIC BADGES.
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE COURSE GOALS WILL BE VERIFIED BY MEANS OF A WRITTEN TEST AND ORAL EXAM AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE LECTURES.
THE WRITTEN TEST, DURATION 4 HOURS, CONSISTS IN NUMERICAL EXERCISES ON THE CALCULATION OF THE SOLLECITATIONS IN BEAMS AND / OR IN FRAME STRUCTURES, IN THE DESIGN AND/OD CHECK OF R.C. MEMEBERS IN LINEAR AND NON-LINEAR FIELD.
THE ORAL EXAM, WITH THE AIM OF ASCERTAINING ALSO THE ABILITY TO DEVELOP A CRITICAL EVALUATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND THE COMMUNICATION SKILLS, CONSISTS ON:
A) DISCUSSION OF THE DRAWINGS DESIGNED BY THE STUDENT DURING THE COURSE;
B) DISCUSSION OF THE TEST RESULTS;
C) DISCUSSION OF TOPICS COVERED IN THE LESSONS WITH AT LEAST ONE QUESTION ON THE DETERMINATION OF THE STRESSES IN ISOSTATIC AND IPERSTATC BEAMS AND FRAME STRUCTURES, ONE ON THE CHECK AND DESIGN CONCRETE REINFORCED ELEMENTS IN LINEAR AND NON-LINEAR FIELD, ONE ON THE MODELING AND ANALYSIS OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF STRUCTURES OF MODEST SIZE.
THE FINAL VOTE WILL BE DETERMINED AS THE AVERAGE OF THAT ATTRIBUTED TO THE DISCUSSION OF THE WRITTEN TEST, TO THE DISCUSSION OF THE DRAWING AND TO THE ANSWERS TO EACH QUESTION.
FOR THE PURPOSES OF THE "LAUDE" WE WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT:
- THE QUALITY OF THE PRESENTATION, IN TERMS OF USING APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE
- THE ABILITY OF CROSS-CORRELATION BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND, WHERE POSSIBLE, WITH OTHERS DISCIPLINES;
- THE AUTONOMY OF PROVEN JUDGMENT.
