Objectives
THIS COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH AN INTRODUCTION TO THE PRINCIPLES AND BEHAVIOUR OF ELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC SYSTEMS.
STUDENTS SHOULD DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE TO A VARIETY OF PROBLEMS AND EXERCISES IN THE FIELD OF ELECTROMAGNETISM.
Prerequisites
THE COURSE ASSUMES FAMILIARITY WITH PHYSICS I AND MATHEMATICS I AND II.
Contents
ELECTRIC CHARGE. ELECTRIC FIELDS. GAUSS’ LAW.
CONDUCTORS. THE MAGNETIC FIELDS DUE TO ELECTRIC CURRENTS. CALCULATION OF MAGNETIC FIELDS, BIOT-SAVART AND AMPÈRE LAWS. ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION FARADAY AND LENZ LAWS. MAXWELL’S EQUATIONS. ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES.
