AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT MUST DEMONSTRATE THAT HE HAS ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: - PRINCIPLES OF CHEMISTRY, REACTIVITY OF ELEMENTS AND THEIR COMPOUNDS - PRINCIPLES OF WEIGHT-REACTION RALATIONS IN CHEMICAL REACTIONS - DESCRIPTION OF THE MICROSCOPIC PROPERTIES OF ATOMS AND MOLECULES, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATIONS, CHEMICAL BONDS AND MOLECULAR GEOMETRY - PROPERTIES OF GASES, LIQUIDS, SOLIDS AND SOLUTIONS - BASIC ELEMENTS OF TO PHASE EQUILIBRIUM AND WEAK CHEMICAL BONDS - ELEMENTS OF HOMOGENEOUS AND HETEROGENEOUS CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO REACTIVITY OF ACIDS AND BASES. - PRINCIPLES OF ELECTROCHEMISTRY - THE CHEMISTRY OF THE ELEMENTS OF THE MAIN GROUPS. THE MAIN SKILLS (I.E. THE ABILITY TO APPLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE) WILL BE: - BALANCING REDOX REACTIONS AND CALCULATE THE MASS OF PRODUCTS; - KNOWING THE STRUCTURE OF MATTER AND THE PRINCIPLES GOVERNING ITS TRANSFORMATIONS; - UNDERSTANDING THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF ATOMIC STRUCTURE AND CHEMICAL BONDS; - ASSESSING THE INFLUENCE OF OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS (SUCH AS TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE) ON CHEMICAL REACTIONS; - QUALITATIVELY CORRELATING THE PROPERTIES OF THE MATTER (MELTING AND BOILING TEMPERATURE, VAPOR PRESSURE, ETC.) WITH ITS STRUCTURE; - WRITING THE STRUCTURE FORMULAS OF THE MAIN CHEMICAL COMPOUNDS AND IDENTIFYING THEIR MOLECULAR GEOMETRY; - SOLVING PROBLEMS RELATED TO CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM; - MAKING AN INTERVIEW ON TOPICS RELATED TO THE CORE ASPECTS OF THE DISCIPLINE BY USING APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC TERMINOLOGY, AND THE TOOLS OF MATHEMATICAL REPRESENTATION AND GRAPHICS OF THE MAIN CHEMICAL PHENOMENA. |

SECTION 5: CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM: PRINCIPES, EQUILIBRIUM IN GAS PHASE, EQUILIBRIUM IN SOLUTION, WEAK ACIDS AND BASES, SOLUBILITY EQUILIBRIUM. ELECTROCHEMISTRY (2 CFU). |
Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
CHEMISTRY COURSE INCLUDES 60 HOURS OF ASSISTED TEACHING (6 CFUS) DIVIDED INTO TWO THIRDS OF FRONTAL LESSONS AND ONE THIRD OF CLASSROOM EXERCISES. DURING THE EXERCISES, THE STUDENTS DIRECTLY APPLY WHAT THE PROFESSOR INTRODUCES DURING THE LESSON. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
THE EXAM IS A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL DISCUSSION. THE WRITTEN EXAM IS PRELIMINARY TO THE ORAL EXAMINATION AND CONSISTS OF A TEST ON SUBJECTS OF THE TEACHING PROGRAM. THE WRITTEN TEST HAS A DURATION OF NOT LESS THAN 60 MINUTES AND IS AIMED AT VERIFYING THE ABILITY TO PROPERLY APPLY THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE, THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROPOSED PROBLEMS. THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF AN INTERVIEW WITH QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENTS SET OUT IN THE TEACHING PROGRAM AND IS DESIGNED TO ASCERTAIN THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ACQUIRED BY THE STUDENT, AS WELL AS TO TEST THE CAPACITY OF EXPOSURE AND SELF-ORGANIZATION OF EXPOSURE ON THE SAME SUBJECTS WITH THEORETICAL CONTENT. THE MINIMUM VOTE FOR PASSING THE EXAM IS 18/30. |
