Objectives
THIS TEACHING IS AIMED AT OBTAINING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE CHEMICAL PRINCIPLES AND OF THE ELEMENTS REACTIVITY, TO KNOW THE STOCHIOMETRY PRINCIPLE TO BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE MICROSCOPICAL PROPERTIES WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATIONS, CHEMICAL BONDS, AND MOLECULAR GEOMETRY, TO KNOW THE PROPERTIES OF GAS, LIQUIDS, SOLIDS, AND SOLUTIONS, TO MASTER THE BASIC ELEMENTS OF KINETICS, THERMODYNAMICS, AND ELECTROCHEMISTRY, TO BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE THE CHEMISTRY OF THE ELEMENTS OF MAIN GROUPS.
Prerequisites
THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ACQUIRED THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE IN CHEMISTRY AND MATHEMATICS PROVIDED BY THE HIGH SCHOOL STUDY PROGRAMS.
Contents
THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE GENERALL AND INORGANIC CHEMISTRY EXAM ARE:

SECTION 1: THE BASICS OF CHEMISTRY, UNIT OF MEASUREMENT, DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS. CHEMICAL FORMULAS AND STOICHIOMETRIC COMPOSITION. CHEMICAL EQUATIONS AND STOICHIOMETRY OF REACTIONS. SOME TYPES OF CHEMICAL REACTIONS (2 CFU)

SECTION 2: PERIODIC TABLE, NOMENCLATURE, ATOMIC THEORIES. THE STRUCTURE OF ATOMS, QUANTUM NUMBERS, AND AUFBAU. ELECTRONIC CONFIGURATIONS (1CFU)

SECTION 3: CHEMICAL BONDS: COVALENT BOND, IONIC BOND, METALLIC BOND, WEAK BONDS (2 CFU).

SECTION 4: STATES OF MATTER: GAS (KINETIC THEORY), LIQUIDS AND SOLIDS AND THEIR PROPERTIES. SOLUTIONS, COLLIGATIVE PROPERTIES (2 CFU).

SECTION 5: CHEMICAL EQUILIBRIUM: PRINCIPES, EQUILIBRIUM IN GAS PHASE, EQUILIBRIUM IN SOLUTION, WEAK ACIDS AND BASES, SOLUBILITY EQUILIBRIUM. (3 CFU).

SECTION 6: THERMODYNAMIC AND CHEMICAL KINETIC ELEMENTS. ELECTROCHEMISTRY (2 CFU).
Teaching Methods
CHEMISTRY COURSE INCLUDES 80 HOURS OF ASSISTED TEACHING (10CFUS) DIVIDED INTO TWO THIRDS OF FRONTAL LESSONS AND ONE THIRD OF CLASSROOM EXERCISES. DURING THE EXERCISES, THE STUDENTS DIRECTLY APPLY WHAT THE PROFESSOR INTRODUCES DURING THE LESSON.

COURSE ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVING THE OBJECTIVES OF TEACHING IS CERTIFIED BY A FINAL EXAMINATION, MADE BY A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL TEST (MINIMUM DISORDER 18/30):

1) THE WRITTEN TEST, BETWEEN 60 AND 120 MINUTES, IS NECESSARY FOR THE ACCES TO THE ORAL TEST. IT IS FINALIZED TO VERIFY THE CAPACITY TO CORRECTLY APPLY TO THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE AND THE CAPACITY TO COMPLY WITH THE PROBLEMS PROPOSED.

2) THE ORAL TEST (MAX 30 MIN) IS A DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENTS INDICATED IN THE PROGRAM AND IT IS FINALIZED TO ASSESS THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITY OF COMPREHENSION REACHED BY THE STUDENT.
THE MINIMUM QUOTATION FOR THE EXAM IS 18/30. THE LAUDE MAY BE ATTRIBUTED TO STUDENTS HAVING REACHED THE MAXIMUM VOTE OF 30/30 AND DEMONSTRATING A PARTICULAR AUTONOMY, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCES.

THE FINAL GRADE COMES FROM THE OVERALL EVALUATION OF BOTH TESTS, GIVING MORE WEIGHT TO THE ORAL INTERVIEW.
