Objectives
GENERAL LEARNING OUTCOMES:
THE TEACHING INTENDS TO ADDRESS THE MAIN THEORIES, AESTHETIC LINES AND THE PROTAGONISTS THAT HAVE MARKED THE ART OF DANCE OVER TIME.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THROUGH THE COURSE, THE STUDENT:
- WILL KNOW THE MOST SIGNIFICANT PHENOMENA OF THE HISTORY OF DANCE FROM THE MIDDLE AGES TO THE SECOND '900;
- WILL UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE THE NECESSARY HISTORICAL-METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS;
- IT WILL ORIENT IT WITHIN THE CULTURAL CONTEXTS RELATING TO THE PHENOMENON

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THROUGH THE COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- ACQUIRE SOME READING KEYS TO INTEGRATE THE HISTORY OF DANCE WITHIN THE GENERAL HISTORY OF THE SHOW;
- MATURING ABILITY TO ANALYSIS OF DIVERSIFIED PHENOMENA RELATING TO DANCE IN THE CENTURIES;
- FACING AND INTERPRETING EXAMPLE CASES AND EMBLEMATIC MODELS

MAKING JUDGMENTS:
THE STUDENT WILL DEVELOP CONCEPTUAL TOOLS AND CRITICAL SKILLS TO ASSESS INDEPENDENTLY METHODOLOGICAL AND HISTORICAL ISSUES, SOURCES AND MATERIALS OF VARIOUS ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
THE STUDENT WILL KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE HIS KNOWLEDGE AT DIFFERENT LEVELS (BOTH TO A PUBLIC OF EXPERTS AND TO ONE OF NON-SPECIALISTS), EXPRESSING IT WITH LANGUAGE PROPERTIES AND WITH THE SPECIFIC LEXICAL SKILLS, AND USING THE APPROPRIATE REGISTER FOR EACH.

LEARNING SKILLS:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS AND USE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL TOOLS, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND COMPUTER, TO IDENTIFY AND SELECT THE SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE USEFUL TO GROW YOUR KNOWLEDGE.
Prerequisites
GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY OF THEATRE.
Contents
THE LESSONS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS. THE FIRST ONE, FOCUSING ON THE OUTLINE OF THE HISTORY OF WESTERN DANCE, WILL PROVIDE SOME KEYS OF READING TO ADEQUATELY INSERT THE DANCE INSIDE THE GENERAL HISTORY OF THE THEATER. THE SECOND PART WILL PROVIDE THE ESSENTIAL TOOLS FOR THE CRITICAL, INTERPRETATIVE AND AESTHETICS READING OF THE DANCE OF THE XX CENTURY WITH MONOGRAPHIC CLOSE EXAMINATIONS SUPPORTED BY IMAGES AND VIDEO.

Verification of learning
ORAL EXAM.
THE KNOWLEDGE OF AUTHORS PLAYS AND THEIR PROBLEMS AROUND THE HISTORY OF DANCE WILL BE VERIFIED DURING THE EXAM. FINALLY WILL BE VERIFIED THE ABILITY TO EXPOSE IN A CORRECT WAY AS LEARNED, THROUGH ORAL EXAM
