Objectives
GENERAL LEARNING OUTCOMES:
THE COURSE AIMS TEACHING THE THEORETICAL AND CRITICAL ACQUISITION OF THE FUNDAMENTAL THEORETICAL LINES OF WESTERN THEATER FROM THE 1900S TO THE PRESENT.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE STUDENT
- WILL KNOW THE MAIN PHENOMENA OF THE WESTERN THEATER FROM THE 1900S TO THE PRESENT;
- WILL UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE THE NECESSARY HISTORICAL-METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS;
- WILL COME INSIDE THE THEORIES AND MODELS THAT LEAD TO CONTEMPORARY THEATER.
APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THROUGH THE COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO
- ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO ANALYSIS OF DIVERSIFIED THEATER PHENOMENA ON THE ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL PLAN FROM THE 1900S TO TODAY;
- ANALYZE THE FUNDAMENTAL CRITICAL PRODUCTION OF THE PROTAGONISTS OF THIS AREA;
- DEAL WITH EXEMPLARY CASES AND EMBLEMATIC MODELS IN A DIACHRONIC SENSE.
MAKING JUDGMENTS:
THE STUDENT WILL DEVELOP CONCEPTUAL TOOLS AND CRITICAL SKILLS TO ASSESS INDEPENDENTLY METHODOLOGICAL-HISTORICAL ISSUES, SOURCES, MATERIALS AND LANGUAGES OF VARIOUS ARTISTIC DISCIPLINES.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
THE STUDENT WILL KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE HIS KNOWLEDGE AT DIFFERENT LEVELS (BOTH TO A PUBLIC OF EXPERTS AND TO ONE OF NON-SPECIALISTS), EXPRESSING IT WITH RIGHT LANGUAGE AND WITH THE SPECIFIC LEXICAL SKILLS, AND USING THE APPROPRIATE REGISTER FOR EACH.
LEARNING SKILLS:
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS AND USE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL TOOLS, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND COMPUTER, TO IDENTIFY AND SELECT THE SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE USEFUL TO GROW SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE.

GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY OF THE THEATER, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY AGE.

THROUGH THE STUDY OF MAIN THEATRE THEORIES SINCE THE END OF '800, THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS THE DATAILS UNDERSTANDING THE EVOLUTIONOF THE ART OF THE THEATRE OF '900 THROUGH ITS PECULIAR EXPRESSIONS (ACTING, DANCE, MIME). ANALYSIS OF EMBLEMATIC EXPERIENCES THAT BELONG TO THIS PHENOMENON (PAPER AND SCREENINGS) AIMS TO PROVIDE THE METHODOLOGY TOOLS FOR A CRITICAL UNDERSTANDING OF A PECULIAR MOMENT OF CONTEMPORARY EUROPEAN THEATRE. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE AND INTERPRETING DATA AND INFORMATION TO IMPROVE ONE OR MORE SPECIFIC AREAS OF STUDY, EVEN INDIPENDENTLEY IDENTIFIED.

ORAL EXAM.
DURING THE ORAL EXAM THERE WILL BE AN ASSESSMENT OF THE DEGREE OF KNOWLWDGE ACHIEVED AND THE RELATIVE LEVEL OF APPRECIATION. IN PARTICULAR THE STUDENT WULL HAVE TO:
• ANSWER QUESTIONS ON THE EXAM BIBLIOGRAPHY WITHIN THE REMIT OF THE BASIC THEORIES OF CONTEMPORARY THEATRE;
• DISCUSS ANALYTICALLY AND CRITICALLY THE ICONOGRAPHIC AND VIDEO MATERIAL EXAMINED IN CLASS;
• COMMENT ON A PASSAGE CHOSEN FROM THE THEORETICAL TEXTS OF THE SYLLABUS.
