Objectives
EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS AND COMPETENCE TO BE ACQUIRED:
LEARNING OF THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF FLUID MECHANICS AND, IN THE SPECIFIC OF HYDRAULICS, WITH PARTICULAR RELEVANCE TO THE PROBLEMS OF CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING: CALCULATION OF THE HYDROSTATIC THRUST ON A FLAT AND / OR INCLINED WALL, CALCULATION OF THE HYDRODYNAMIC THRUST, RESOLUTION OF PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE MOTION OF FLUIDS IN PRESSURE PIPES AND FREE SURFACE. KNOWLEDGE OF THEORETICAL TOPICS, NUMERICAL APPLICATIONS AND EXPERIMENTALS.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
UNDERSTANDING OF TERMINOLOGY, BASIC PRINCIPLES, METHODOLOGIES AND BASIC CONCEPTS OF FLUID MECHANICS.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
KNOWING HOW TO APPROACH IN AN OPTIMAL WAY TO THE HYDRAULIC ASPECTS CONNECTED WITH THE STRESSES THAT A FLUID EXERCISED ON THE CONTAINER CONTAINING IT, THE FLUID MOTION IN PIPELINE, ARRIVING TO THE DEFINITION OF THE PIEZOMETRIC PROFILES AND THE FLUID MOTION IN FLUME OR RIVER.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT:
KNOWING HOW TO IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE METHODS TO SOLVE ENVIRONMENTAL HYDRAULIC PROBLEMS ON THE BASIS OF THE CONTEXT.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
BEING ABLE TO EXPOSE A TOPIC CONCERNING HYDRAULICS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FLUID DYNAMICS.
ABILITY TO LEARN:
KNOW HOW TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED TO CONTEXTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE AND TO DEEPEN THE TOPICS TREATED USING MATERIALS OTHER THAN THOSE PROPOSED
