Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
THE COURSE AIMS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO THE ADOPTION OF A SOCIO-ECONOMIC PERSPECTIVE OF EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT AND SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF THE PRODUCTION, DISTRIBUTION AND SERVICE ACTIVITIES OF THE HEALTH SYSTEM AND, SPECIFICALLY, OF A MANAGERIAL APPROACH TO PHARMACY MANAGEMENT AS A HEALTH POINT IN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AND AS A COMPANY IN THE DRUG SUPPLY CHAIN, COMBINING THE ECONOMIC-BUSINESS NEEDS OF BALANCE AND PERFORMANCE WITH THE SOCIAL SERVICE FUNCTION.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL KNOW BASIC MODELS, TECHNIQUES AND TOOLS OF MANAGEMENT APPLIED TO THE PHARMACY CONCEIVED AS AN ORGANIZATION WHOSE DISTINCTIVE VALUE IS BASED ON THE ROLE OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDER IN TERRITORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM.
THE STUDENT WILL UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE THE MANAGEMENT MODELS, TECHNIQUES AND TOOLS BY ENHANCING THE KEY ROLE OF THE PHARMACY AS A LINK BETWEEN THE DOCTOR, THE PATIENT AND THE STRUCTURES OF THE HEALTH SYSTEM.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- ANALYZE AND UNDERSTAND THE CONDITIONS OF EFFECTIVE, EFFICIENT AND SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF THE PHARMACY AS A SOCIO-ECONOMIC ORGANIZATION.
- DEVELOP MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES THAT ENHANCE THE DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF THE PHARMACIST AS A HEALTH PROFESSIONAL AND OF THE PHARMACY AS A HEALTHCARE FACILITY.
- ENHANCE THE TECHNICAL-SCIENTIFIC SKILLS ACQUIRED IN CARRYING OUT THE SERVICE FUNCTION OF THE PHARMACY.
- COMBINING THE ECONOMIC-BUSINESS NEEDS OF BALANCE AND PERFORMANCE WITH THE SOCIAL SERVICE FUNCTION OF THE PHARMACY IN THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM.

PART I – 'GENERAL FRAMEWORK OF THE HEALTH SYSTEM AND THE MEDICINES AND HEALTH PRODUCTS SUPPLY CHAIN' (6 HOURS OF LECTURES);
PART II - 'ELEMENTS OF STRATEGIC PHARMACY MANAGEMENT' (12 HOURS OF LECTURES; 4 HOURS SEMINARS, TESTIMONIALS OR FIELD VISITS);
PART III - 'ELEMENTS OF PHARMACY OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT' (14 HOURS OF LECTURES; 6 HOURS OF EXERCISES, REAL CASE STUDIES OR SIMULATIONS);
PART IV – FOCUS ON PHARMACY SERVICES, DIGITAL HEALTH AND E-PHARMACY (6 HOURS SEMINARS, TESTIMONIALS OR FIELD VISITS)

Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING IS DIVIDED INTO 48 HOURS (6 CFUS) DIVIDED BETWEEN FRONTAL LECTURES, EXERCISES, SEMINARS AND COMPANY VISITS AS FOLLOWS:
- FRONTAL LECTURES (32 HOURS)
- EXERCISES, REAL CASE STUDIES, AND SIMULATIONS (6 HOURS)
- SEMINARS AND ON FIELD VISITS (10 HOURS).

BY ADOPTING AN APPROACH AIMED AT INTRODUCING LEARNERS TO LANGUAGE AND BUSINESS-MANAGERIAL PERSPECTIVES, WITH THE PURPOSE OF HIGHLIGHTING THE IMPORTANCE OF MANAGEMENT IN THE HEALTHCARE CONTEXT AND, IN PARTICULAR, IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PHARMACY AND THE CONTRIBUTION OF MANAGEMENT TO THE PHARMACIST'S PROFESSIONAL VALORISATION.
ATTENDANCE OF THE LESSONS, AS PER REGULATION, IS COMPULSORY.
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM WITH EVALUATION IN THIRTIES.
THE EXAM INCLUDES:
1. AN IN ITINERE ORAL EXAM, LASTING UP TO 20 MINUTES, THAT HAS AS ITS OBJECTIVE THE VERIFICATION OF THE ACQUISITION OF THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE RELATED TO THE TOPICS COVERED BY THE FIRST PART OF THE COURSE (AT THE END OF THE MIDDLE WEEK OF THE COURSE).
2. THE REALIZATION OF A PROJECT WORK THAT HAS THE PURPOSE OF VERIFYING THE ABILITY TO CORRECTLY APPLY THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED, THE DEGREE OF UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROBLEMS ANALYSED AND THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY THE RESULTS ACHIEVED, AND THAT:
- IS PRODUCED BY THE STUDENT AUTONOMOUSLY OR IN A GROUP;
- DEALS WITH SPECIFIC TOPICS AND PROBLEMS COVERED DURING THE COURSE OF THE LESSONS, JOINT TO THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED DURING THE SEMINARS AND LABORATORY / ON FIELD ACTIVITIES;
- CONSITS OF A WRITTEN REPORT, LIKE A CASE STUDY, AND OF A MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION (PPT, VIDEO AND SIMILAR) CALENDARIZED AT THE END OF THE COURSE.
3. A FINAL ORAL EXAM THAT CONSISTS OF A DISCUSSION OF ABOUT 20 MINUTES STARTING FROM THE PROJECT WORK AND CONCERNING THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE SECOND PART OF THE COURSE AND WHICH IS AIMED AT ASSESSING THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ACHIEVED BY THE STUDENTS, AS WELL AS THE ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE WITH LANGUAGE EFFECTIVENESS AND TO DEVELOP SOLUTIONS IN THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT.

EACH TEST PROVIDES A QUALITATIVE/QUANTITATIVE JUDGMENT, TRANSLATED IN THIRTY WHEN COMPLETING THE FINAL ORAL EXAMINATION, WHICH IS CONSIDERED PASSED WITH A MARK THAT VARIES FROM A MINIMUM OF 18/30 TO A MAXIMUM OF 30/30 DEPENDING ON THE LEVEL OF ACQUISITION OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE DEGREE OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE CAPACITY TO INTEGRATE THE SAME. EXCELLENCE IS ATTRIBUTED WITH THE ‘LODE’ WHEN EVIDENCE OF OUTSTANDING ABILITY FOR INDEPENDENT AND ORIGINAL PROCESSING OF THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IS PROVIDED DURING THE EXAMS AND THE OVERALL COURSE.
