THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC DRUGS AND THE RATIONAL BASIS OF THE CLINICAL USE OF THESE CLASSES OF DRUGS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL KNOW: -PHARMACOKINETIC AND PHARMACODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF ANTI-INFECTIVE AND ANTI-TUMOR CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC DRUGS; -SIDE EFFECTS AND TOXICITIES, AND CLINICAL USES OF CHEMOTHERAPEUTIC DRUGS; -INTERACTIONS BETWEEN DRUGS AND BETWEEN THEM AND BIOACTIVE MOLECULES -MECHANISMS OF DRUG RESISTANCE; -TYPES AND MECHANISMS OF CELLULAR AND MOLECULAR TOXICITY AND ADVERSE REACTIONS TO DRUGS; -FACTORS THAT ALTER THE RESPONSE AND TOXIC EFFECTS OF DRUGS, INCLUDING GENETIC FACTORS; -TOXICITY AND DRUG-DEPENDENCE MECHANISMS OF DRUGS AND SUBSTANCES OF ABUSE; -TOXICOKINETIC AND TOXICODYNAMIC MECHANISMS OF MOLECULES OF FOOD AND ENVIRONMENTAL ORIGIN; -RATIONAL BASIS OF THE TREATMENT OF THE INTOXICATED PATIENT. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT APPLYING THE SKILLS ACQUIRED MUST BE ABLE TO -ANALYZE PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE RATIONALIZATION OF CHEMOTHERAPY THERAPIES AND THEIR CORRECT USE, IN TERMS OF EFFICACY AND SAFETY AND ADHERENCE TO THERAPY; -EVALUATE THE RISK-BENEFIT RATIO IN EXPOSURE TO XENOBIOTICS. |

THE COURSE INCLUDES 80 HOURS OF FRONTAL ASSISTED TEACHING (10 CFU). ATTENDANCE OF LESSONS IS REQUIRED. IN ORDER TO TAKE THE FINAL EXAM, THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ATTENDED AT LEAST 75% OF THE HOURS OF THE COURSE. THE METHOD OF VERIFYING ATTENDANCE IS GENERALLY ELECTRONIC, I.E.
