Objectives
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TEACHING UNIT PROVIDES THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE CHEMISTRY OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND THE CONCEPTS AND PRINCIPLES OF ECOLOGY IDENTIFYING CONTEXT AND CURRENT ISSUES RELATED TO THE SOURCES OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND RELATIONS BETWEEN THE POLLUTION AND THE ENVIRONMENT AND BETWEEN THE POLLUTION AND MAN. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE BASIC CHEMICAL LAWS AND APPLY THE SKILLS ACQUIRED TO THE ANALYSIS OF IMPACTS OF BASE ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND HIGHLIGHT THE ISSUES RELATED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ECOLOGICAL CULTURE IN FUNCTION OF SUSTAINABILITY.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT: AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT SHOULD BE ABLE TO EVALUATE AND SOLVE PROBLEMS CONCERNING THE COURSE CONTENTS COMMUNICATION SKILLS: MUST BE ABLE TO DISCUSS IT WITH OTHERS, AND WORK AS A TEAM.

THE COURSE INCLUDES THE HANDLING OF SPECIFIC CONTENT ADAPTED TO TEACHING IN CHILD AND PRIMARY SCHOOL.IN PAETICULAR:
1. GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF CHEMISTRY AND ECOLOGY.
2.THE ENVIRONMENTAL MATRIX: AIR WATER AND SOIL.
3. THE SOURCES OF POLLUTION AND THE HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATIONS OF POLLUTION.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES THEORETICAL LESSONS AND EXERCISES IN THE CLASSROOM. DURING THE EXERCISES IT IS PROPOSED TO THE STUDENT TO SOLVING PROBLEMS. THE RESOLUTION METHOD CONSISTS OF UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM, PLANNING THE SOLUTION, AND FINALLY SOLVING IT. THE LATTER PHASE PROMOTES THE HABIT TO ASSESS THE REASONABLENESS OF THE RESPONSE AND TO VERIFY CONSISTENCY WITH THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF CHEMISTRY AND ECOLOGY.
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EVALUATION EXAM. VERIFICATION INVOLVES A WRITTEN TEST PASSED WHICH THE STUDENT COULD TAKE THE ORAL TEST THAT TAKES PLACE ON THE FOLLOWING DAYS.
THE WRITTEN TEST CONSISTS OF A MULTIPLE-CHOICE TEST ON THE SUBJECTS OF THE TEACHING PROGRAM. THE WRITTEN TEST USUALLY LASTS NO LESS THAN 30 MINUTES AND IS INTENDED TO VERIFY THE ABILITY TO CORRECTLY APPLY THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROPOSED PROBLEMS AND TO BE CONSIDERED OVERCOME BY ACHIEVING THE MINIMUM PREDETERMINED SCORE.
DURING TESTING, IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO CONSULT TEXTS OR USE PCS OR SMART PHONES; THE CALCULATOR AND THE PERIODIC TABLE ARE ALLOWED.
THE ORAL EXAM CONSISTS OF AN INTERVIEW WITH QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL CONTENTS OF THE TEACHING PROGRAM AND IS DESIGNED TO ASCERTAIN THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ACQUIRED BY THE STUDENT AS WELL AS TO VERIFY THE EXPOSURE CAPACITY USING THE APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY AND THE AUTONOMOUS ORGANIZATION OF EXPOSURE ON THE SAME SUBJECTS WITH THEORETICAL CONTENT.
