Objectives
THE COURSE COVERS THE MAIN TOPICS OF FEASIBILITY STUDY AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT, AS RATIONAL APPROACH OF ANALYSIS, ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT OF COMPLEX PROJECTS. SEVERAL TECHNIQUES ARE ILLUSTRATED, FROM PLANNING TO EXECUTING PROJECT, PLUS SOME DEEPENING ON PROJECT FINANCING AND RISK MANAGEMENT. THE GOAL IS TO PROVIDE TO THE STUDENTS A REFERENCE FRAMEWORK AND A SET OF TOOLS TO ANALYZE AND MAKE DECISION RELATED TO COMPLEX PROJECTS.

THE STUDENT, AT THE END OF THE COURSE, WILL HAVE ACQUIRED THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICAL SKILLS RELATED TO PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND THE ABILITY TO USE THE MAIN TECHNIQUES AND TOOLS TO MANAGE COMPLEX PROJECTS AND PERFORM FEASIBILITY STUDIES.

PART I (30 HOURS) - PROJECT FEASIBILITY
THE FEASIBILITY STUDY: INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL AIMS (6 HOURS) - THE LOGICAL STAGES - THE ACTORS INVOLVED (6 HOURS).
LINKED ANALYSES: STRATEGIC, MARKET, TECHNICAL, ECONOMIC, FINANCIAL (3 HOURS).
FORMS OF FINANCING: TRADITIONAL APPROACHES - VENTURE CAPITAL - CROWDFUNDING (6 HOURS).
CASE STUDIES: MARKET ANALYSIS - PLANT DESIGN - PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT (9 HOURS).
PART II (33 HOURS) - PROJECT MANAGEMENT
PROJECT MANAGEMENT: THE AREAS OF APPLICATION OF THE PM - TRAINING OF THE PROJECT MANAGER - THE STATE OF THE ART OF THE PM (3 HOURS).
PROJECT PLANNING AND SCHEDULING: THE LOGICAL AND OPERATIONAL PHASES - PROJECT ORGANISATION - THE MAIN METHODS COMPARED (6 HOURS).
THE RETICULAR TECHNIQUES: THE PROGRAM EVALUATION AND REVIEW TECHNIQUE - THE PROBABILISTIC PERT - THE CRITICAL PATH METHOD (6 HOURS).
PROJECT CONTROL: WORK PACKAGES AND COST ACCOUNTS - RESOURCE LOAD CURVES - MEASURING PROGRESS - EARNED VALUE - CSCS (COST/SCHEDULE CONTROL SYSTEM) - DETERMINING PERFORMANCE INDICES (6 HOURS).
FINITE ESTIMATES: ESTIMATES OF BUDGET TO COMPLETION AND COMPLETION DATE - CORRECTIVE ACTIONS - PROJECT PERFORMANCE (6 HOURS).
PROJECT FINANCING: THE LOGIC AND THE MAIN ACTORS - THE TYPES OF PROJECTS THAT CAN BE CARRIED OUT - THE CONTRACTUAL FORMULAS - THE REFERENCE LEGISLATION (3 HOURS).
RISK MANAGEMENT: RISK ANALYSIS SYSTEMS - RISK MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES - CONTINGENCY PLAN - CRITICAL AREAS OF THE PM (3 HOURS).
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS COMPOSED BY CLASS LECTURES, EXERCISES, TEACHING CASES DISCUSSED INDIVIDUALLY AND IN GROUP. THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF HOURS IS 63.

Verification of learning
THE LEARNING TEST IS IMPLEMENTED AT THE END OF THE COURSE THROUGH A WRITTEN EXAMINATION WITH OPEN QUESTIONS AND EVENTUALLY A CASE DISCUSSION.
IN THE CASE OF A DISTANCE EXAMINATION, THE SAME MAY BE HELD ORALLY. STUDENTS WILL BE EVALUATED BY USING A SCALE OF 30.
