Marco PISTOIA Curriculum
Professor of Film Studies at the University of Salerno, he is Scientific Consultant and Author for the Encyclopedia of Cinema (Treccani) and Scientific Consultant for the Ministry of Culture (Rome). He studied at the University of Florence where he took the Ph. D. in Cinema and Theatre Studies and where he teached History of Cinema at the School for Advanced Studies in Art History. He also has been teacher at the Middlebury College, at the University of Urbino and at the Kunsthaus in Wien.
Since 2004 he is President of the Italian Association for Cinema Studies. Member of the Italian National Syndacate of Critics, the Sigismondo Malatesta Association and the Compalit (Association of Comparative Studies).
Scholar of silent and sound cinema and especially of the reception of cinema in several periodicals, of the cinema of Luchino Visconti and of the relationship between cinema and theatre.
