Objectives
THE COURSE DESCRIBES AND EXAMINES THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF GENERAL PHYSICS. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF TEACHING CONSISTS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE BASICS TO ADDRESS THE STUDY OF ELEMENTARY PHYSICAL SYSTEMS FOR A GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THE BASIC SCIENTIFIC ANALYSIS METHODS.
THE MAIN ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE WILL CONCERN THE STUDY OF VECTORS, KINEMATICS AND LAWS OF MOTION; THE CONCEPTS OF ENERGY AND WORK. THE STUDY OF FLUID MECHANICS WITH BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS; LAWS OF THERMODYNAMICS AND OUTLINE OF ELECTROMAGNETISM AND OPTICS.
THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO ANALYZE SIMPLE PHYSICAL SYSTEMS, APPLYING THE LAWS AND MODELS STUDIED TO SOLVE SIMPLE KINEMATIC, DYNAMIC AND THERMODYNAMIC PROBLEMS.
Prerequisites
THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ACQUIRED THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF GEOMETRY AND ALGEBRA PROVIDED BY THE NORMAL
HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULA.

THE TEACHING COURSE CONSISTS OF A SINGLE MODULE OF 72 HOURS (9 CFU)
THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE MODULE ARE:
PHYSICAL QUANTITIES AND MEASURES;
VECTORS AND MOTION IN ONE AND TWO DIMENSIONS;
PRINCIPLES OF DYNAMICS;
WORK OF A KINETIC FORCE AND ENERGY;
POTENTIAL ENERGY AND ENERGY CONSERVATION;
CENTER OF MASS AND MOMENTUM;
MECHANICS OF FLUIDS;
BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS, OSMOSIS AND BIOLOGICAL MEMBRANES;

TEMPERATURE, HEAT AND FIRST PRINCIPLE OF THERMODYNAMICS;
KINETIC THEORY OF GASES;
ENTROPY AND THE SECOND PRINCIPLE OF THERMODYNAMICS;
OVERVIEW OF ELECTROSTATICS AND ELECTROMAGNETISM;
OVERVIEW OF MODERN PHYSICS.
Teaching Methods
THE TEACHING IS ARTICULATED IN A SINGLE MODULE AND PROVIDES 72 HOURS OF ASSISTED TEACHING (9 CFU) DIVIDED BETWEEN
HOURS OF TEACHING IN THE FORM OF LESSONS AND HOURS OF EXERCISES.
TWO THIRDS OF THE LECTURE HOURS ARE THEORETICAL FRONTAL AND A THIRD AS HOURS OF EXERCISES (WITH A LEARNING-BY-DOING APPROACH) ON THE CONCEPTS DEFINED IN THE THEORETICAL LESSONS
Verification of learning
THE LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF THE TEACHING IS CERTIFIED BY THE PASSING OF AN EXAMINATION WITH EVALUATION IN THIRTIETHS.
THE VERIFICATION PROVIDES FOR A WRITTEN TEST EXCEEDED WHICH THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO SUPPORT THE ORAL TEST TAKING PLACE ON A DAY OTHER THAN THAT OF THE WRITTEN TEST.
THE WRITTEN TEST, LASTING 2 HOURS, CONSISTS OF A MULTIPLE-RESPONSE TEST THAT PROVIDES FOR THE RESOLUTION OF EXERCISES AND PROBLEMS ON TOPICS OF THE TEACHING PROGRAM. THE PROPOSED EXERCISES ARE ANALOGOUS TO THOSE RESOLVED DURING LESSON/EXERCISE HOURS. THE TEST IS CARRIED OUT BEFORE THE ORAL TEST AND IS CONSIDERED TO BE EXCEEDED WITH THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE MINIMUM SCORE. THE PURPOSE OF THE TEST IS TO VERIFY: THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS PROPOSED DURING THE COURSE, THE ABILITY TO CORRECTLY APPLY THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE, THE ABILITY TO FORMULATE THE APPROPRIATE APPROACH TO THE SOLUTION OF THE PROPOSED PROBLEMS. DURING THE TEST IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO CONSULT NOTES, PHOTOCOPIES AND/OR TEXTS DOWNLOADED FROM THE INTERNET; IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO USE PC OR SMART PHONE; IT IS PERMITTED TO USE A SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR AND CONSULT THE TEXT BOOK ONLY. THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF A DISCUSSION OF THE DURATION NOT EXCEEDING ABOUT 40 MINUTES, AIMED AT ASCERTAINING:
• THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THEORETICAL CONTENTS (AND APPLICATIONS, IN THE CASE OF ERRORS PRESENT IN THE WRITTEN TEST OR OF SIGNIFICANT UNRESOLVED EXERCISES)
• THE LEVEL OF COMPETENCE ACHIEVED IN THE EXHIBITION: LANGUAGE PROPERTIES, LOGICAL-DEDUCTIVE AND SYNTHESIS CAPACITY, ABILITY TO ARGUE, AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT IN PROPOSING THE MOST APPROPRIATE APPROACH TO ARGUING WHAT IS REQUIRED.
THE FINAL VOTE STEMS FROM THE OUTCOME OF THE ORAL TRIAL ALONE. THE MINIMUM RATING FOR PASSING THE EXAM IS 18/30. CUM LAUDATION CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO STUDENTS WHO REACH THE MAXIMUM RATING OF 30/30 AND DEMONSTRATE THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO APPLY THEIR OWN KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ACQUIRED EVEN IN DIFFERENT CONTEXTS THAN THOSE OFFERED IN CLASS.
