THE COURSE AIMS TO PROMOTE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE INSTITUTIONAL, POLITICAL, CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC FACTORS THAT ARE THE ELEMENTS OF IDENTITY AND EVOLUTION OF ADVANCED SOCIETIES, THROUGH THE STUDY OF HISTORICAL PROCESSES AND THE ANALYSIS OF INTERPRETATIVE CATEGORIES OF THE MODERN AGE. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES: KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOWING PRINCIPLES, CONCEPTS, HERMENEUTIC CATEGORIES OF CURRENT HISTORIOGRAPHIC RESEARCH ON THE MODERN AGE, WITH PARTICULAR REGARD TO ITALY AND EUROPE, WITH REFERENCE TO SPECIFIC ISSUES OF MAIN IMPORTANCE. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO BE ABLE TO READ HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS, TO CONSCIOUSLY EXAMINE HISTORIOGRAPHIC RECONSTRUCTIONS, TO CRITICALLY INTERPRET PHENOMENA AND EVENTS, TO CARRY OUT RESEARCH ON THE LEGACY OF THE PROCESSES THAT TOOK PLACE IN THE MODERN AGE. |

THE THEME OF QUEENSHIP AND FEMALE POWER DURING THE EARLY MODERN AGE IS ONE OF THE MOST FRUITFUL TRENDS IN CURRENT HISTORIOGRAPHY. THE RESULTS OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE EUROPEAN RESEARCH HAVE REDESIGNED THE ROLE OF WOMEN IN THE COURT DYNAMICS OF THE ANCIENT RÉGIME BETWEEN THE SIXTEENTH AND THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURIES, HIGHLIGHTING THEIR PROTAGONISM IN POLITICAL-DIPLOMATIC DEVELOPMENTS, IN THE AFFIRMATION OF THE STATE, IN THE INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS. THE COURSE AIMS TO INVESTIGATE THE ROLE PLAYED BY QUEENS, REGENTS AND POWERFUL WOMEN DURING THE CENTURIES OF THE EARLY MODERN AGE, THEIR MULTIPLE LEVELS OF EXERCISE OF POWER, THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF GEOPOLITICAL PROCESSES, DIPLOMACY AND GOVERNMENT WITHIN THE COURTS AND INTERNATIONAL NETWORKS. |

THE COURSE AIMS TO ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS, SUITABLE FOR UNDERTAKING THE EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONS AND THEACHING, WITH THE POSSESSION OF A SOLID CULTURE AND INTERPRETATIVE SKILLS. THE TEACHING METHODS ADOPTED PROMOTE THIS PROCESS, THROUGH THE INTEGRATION OF DIFFERENT ACTIONS: LECTURES ON MAIN TOPICS, SUPPORTED BY THE USE OF MASS-MEDIA TOOLS, FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION WITH STUDENTS; READING AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF SHORT DOCUMENTS REPRESENTING IMPORTANT HISTORICAL EVENTS. |

FINAL ORAL EXAMINATION VERIFIES OBJECTIVES ABOUT KNOWLEDGE, CORRECT LANGUAGE, CRITICAL CAPACITIES. IT CONSISTS OF QUESTIONS ON THE SUBJECTS SUBMITTED DURING THE LESSONS AND REPERIBLE IN THE PRESCRIPTED BOOKS. IT CHECKS THE LEARNING OF THE CONTENTS, THE DISCUSSION CAPACITY, THE APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE, THE POSSESS OF CONCEPTS AND CONNEXIONS. |
