Objectives
THE AIM OF THE TEACHING UNIT FOR DOCTORAL STUDENTS IS TO INVESTIGATE METHODOLOGICAL QUESTIONS OF ART HISTORY OF THE MIDDLE AGES AND THE MODERN AGE IN EUROPE AND THE MEDITERRANEAN COUNTRIES THROUGH THE ANALYSIS OF VISUAL SOURCES AND SPECIFIC HISTORICAL CONTEXTS.

THE MODULE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO BLOCKS OF 5 HOURS EACH HELD BY TWO PROFESSORS: LOREDANA LORIZZO (HISTORY OF MODERN ART) AND FRANCESCA DELL'ACQUA (HISTORY OF MEDIEVAL ART) AND FOCUSED ON EXEMPLARY CASES OF THE USE OF IMAGES IN THE FORMULATION OF THE HISTORICAL-CULTURAL DISCOURSE, USEFUL TO PROVIDE KEYS TO READING AND ELEMENTS OF METHODOLOGICAL DISCUSSION IN DEALING WITH THE ART OF THE PAST AS A LENS TO EXPLORE SPECIFIC CULTURAL CONTEXTS.
