Objectives
THE TEACHING IS AIMED TO GIVE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF INDUSTRIAL PROCESSES AND PLANTS INVOLVED IN THE PRODUCTION OF DRUGS AND FEED AND OTHER PRODUCTS FOR ANIMAL HEALTH PURPOSES.
THE STUDENT WILL KNOW THE MAIN PROCESSES AND THE MOST APPROPRIATE PLANT CONFIGURATIONS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF DRUGS, FEED AND OTHER PRODUCTS FOR THE ANIMAL WELFARE.
APPLYING THE ACQUIRED SKILLS, THE STUDENT MUST BE ABLE MANAGE CONCEPTS AND ACTIVITIES RELATED TO TRANSFORMATION PROCESSES BASIC SCHEMES COMPREHENSIVE OF EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION.

INTRODUCTION TO THE COURSE: GENERAL PRESENTATION OF THE FEED INDUSTRY AND THE MEDICINAL / HYGIENE PRODUCTS INDUSTRIES FOR VETERINARY USES. RELEVANCE OF THESE INDUSTRIAL SECTORS FOR THE ECONOMY AND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES. OVERVIEW OF THE TECHNICAL TOPICS COVERED IN LESSONS. (2 HOURS)

GENERAL CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND THEIR RELEVANCE FOR THE SELECTION OF SUITABLE APPARATUSES / TOOLS IN THE CONDUCTION OF COMMON INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS SUCH AS: STORAGE, HANDLING, DOSING. BASIC OPERATIONS (UNITARY) AND PLANTS FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF RAW MATERIALS INTO FINAL PRODUCTS: HEAT EXCHANGE (TRANSPORT PHENOMENA INVOLVED; MAIN TYPES OF EQUIPMENT); DRYING (TRANSPORT PHENOMENA INVOLVED; MAIN TYPES OF EQUIPMENT); MIXING (TRANSPORT PHENOMENA INVOLVED; MAIN TYPES OF EQUIPMENT) SOLID LIQUID, LIQUID LIQUID, SOLID SOLID; SIZE REDUCTION (PRINCIPLES, MAIN TYPES OF EQUIPMENT); SIZE ENLAGEMENT (METHODS, MAIN TYPES OF EQUIPMENT). BASIC OPERATIONS APPLIED TO THE MOST COMMON TECHNOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATIONS AND PLANTS FOR: SANITIZATION AND MAINTENANCE (HOT/COLD THERMAL TREATMENTS); EXPANSION/COMPRESSION; EXTRUSION / PELLING / GRANULATION; FLAKING; ROLLING; CRUMBLING AND SCREENING; COATING AND GREASING. (6 HOURS)

THE MODERN VISION OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION IN THE KEY OF RESOURCE OPTIMIZATION (SUSTAINABILITY AND PROCESS INTENSIFICATION), INCREASE IN PRODUCTIVITY, QUALITY, SAFE MANAGEMENT THROUGH THE USE OF THE ENABLING TECHNOLOGIES OF INDUSTRY 4.0. EXAMPLE OF THE RENDERING INDUSTRY. CONCLUSIVE REMARKS ON THE TOPICS PRESENTED. (4 HOURS)
