Objectives
PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE ON: PLANT-SOIL INTERACTIONS AIMED AT THE USE OF PLANTS IN SOIL, WATER AND AIR DECONTAMINATION PROCESSES. - SO THAT THE STUDENT IS ABLE TO DEVELOP AND APPLY ORIGINAL IDEAS IN A RESEARCH CONTEXT TARGETING THE PHYTORIAL REMEDIATION PROCESS. SOLVING PROBLEMS RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION OF SOIL, WATER AND AIR. AT THE END OF THE COURSE, STUDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO DRAW CONCLUSIONS AND FORMULATE POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS SUBJECTED TO THEM ON THE BASIS OF THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED AND DEVELOPED. STUDY AND INDEPENDENTLY FACE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS WHICH INVOLVE SOIL, WATER AND AIR REMEDIATION PROCESSES THROUGH BIO-PHYTO-REMEDIATION.
Prerequisites
THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ACQUIRED THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF BOTANY, MICROBIOLOGY, GENETICS, MOLECULAR BIOLOGY, COMPUTER SCIENCE, ENVIRONMENTAL CHEMISTRY, ENGLISH LANGUAGE.

THE COURSE WILL FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: MAIN PHYTORIAL REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES (4H). SOIL MICROORGANISMS (E.G. MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI, GROWTH PROMOTING BACTERIA, ENDOPHITES) AND THEIR ROLE IN THE PHYTOREMEDIATION PROCESSES OF POLLUTED MATRICES (4H).
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE PROVIDES CLASSROOM LESSONS ILLUSTRATING THE ARGUMENTS OF THE COURSE, AND LABORATORY ACTIVITIES AIMED AT THE SCREENING OF PLANT GENOTYPES, SPECIES AND/OR VARIETIES TOLERANT TO DIVERSE POLLUTANTS (ORGANIC AND/OR INORGANIC); AT STUDYING THE GENETIC BIODIVERSITY OF PLANT GENOTYPES, SOIL AND RHIZOSPHERE MICROORGANISMS USEFUL FOR POLLUTANT PHYTOREMEDIATION.

ATTENDANCE OF CLASSROOM LESSONS IS NOT OBLIGATORY, THAT OF EXERCISES and field activities are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE COURSE OBJECTIVES WILL BE VERIFIED
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THROUGH MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION (POWER POINT) OF A PROJECT CONCEIVED BY THE STUDENT ON ENVIRONMENTAL REDEVELOPMENT AND REMEDIATION OF CONTAMINATED SITES.
BASED ON THE QUALITY OF THE PROJECT PRESENTED, THE STUDENT WILL BE DEFINED AS SUITABLE OR NOT FOR PASSING THE TEST.
