THE COURSE AIMS TO DEEPEN A THEME, OR AN AUTHOR, OR A WORK OF THE HISTORY OF AESTHETIC REFLECTION AS RESEARCH AIMED AT UNDERSTANDING THE SENSITIVE DIMENSION OF EXPERIENCE AND THE ARTISTIC PHENOMENON AS ITS EXEMPLARY ARTICULATION. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL: - WILL KNOW A THEME, OR AN AUTHOR, OR A WORK OF THE AESTHETIC TRADITION THROUGH THE READING OF SPECIFIC TEXTS CONTEXTUALIZED WITHIN THE TRADITION. - WILL UNDERSTAND THE SPECIFIC ROLE OF THE THEME, AUTHOR, OR WORK COVERED BY THE COURSE IN GENERAL PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTION. - WILL UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SPECIFIC TEXTS AND THE TEXTUAL PRODUCTION OF THE PHILOSOPHICAL-CULTURAL CONTEXT. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - INTERPRET THE FUNDAMENTAL TEXTS OF THE HISTORY OF AESTHETICS IN THE CONTEXT OF MORE GENERAL PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTION - COMPARE THE RESULTS OF THE AESTHETIC REFLECTION IN DIFFERENT ERAS - ELABORATE AUTONOMOUSLY A HISTORICAL-CRITICAL PATH WITHIN THE DISCIPLINE. AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO : - CRITICALLY EVALUATE THE CONTENT OF COMPLEX TEXTS. - DISCERN THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXTS THAT INFLUENCE A GIVEN TEXTUAL PRODUCTION. - SELECT CONCEPTUAL AND ARGUMENTATIVE STRUCTURES USEFUL FOR UNDERSTANDING THE CCOMMUNICATION SKILLS: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - COMMUNICATE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE WITH CLEAR ARGUMENTS AND ACCESSIBLE LANGUAGE. - REPRESENT AND COMMUNICATE, BY MEANS OF TEXTS OR VIRTUAL TOOLS, RESULTS OF RESEARCH OR OWN ELABORATIONS LEARNING SKILLS: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: - CARRY OUT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX SCIENTIFIC-HUMANISTIC TEXTS; - CONTINUOUSLY UPDATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE, USING TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE. |

THE COURSE WILL BE DEDICATED TO THE READING, UNDERSTANDING AND INTERPRETATION OF ONE OF THE FUNDAMENTAL TEXTS OF FILM THEORY: C.METZ, CINEMA AND PSYCHOANALYSIS.THE IMAGINARY SIGNIFIER (1980). THE AIM WILL BE TO SHOW THE EFFECTIVENESS AND SCOPE OF THE PSYCHOANALYTICAL APPROACH BOTH FOR THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL MECHANISMS THAT REGULATE THE FRUITION OF THE CINEMATOGRAPHIC WORK AND FOR THE INTERPRETATION OF THE RHETORIC OF CINEMATOGRAPHIC LANGUAGE. THE COURSE WILL BE STRUCTURED AS FOLLOWS: - INTRODUCTION TO THE THEORETICAL WORK OF CHRISTIAN METZ - STUDY OF THE NOTIONS OF "DEVICE" AND "SCOPIC REGIME - STUDY OF THE PSYCHOLOGICAL MECHANISMS OF FILM FRUITION (IDENTIFICATION, VOYEURISM, FETISHISM) - STUDY OF THE RHETORICS OF FILM LANGUAGE (CONDENSATION/ DISPLACEMENT; METAPHOR/METONYMY). THE COURSE INCLUDES THE USE OF AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIAL AND THE SCREENING OF FILMS TO EXEMPLIFY THE CONTENTS STUDIED. |

THE COURSE DOES NOT REQUIRE COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE, BUT PARTICIPATION IN LECTURES IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. WILL BE CONDUCTED IN FACE-TO-FACE LECTURES THAT WILL ESSENTIALLY CONSIST OF THE READING, COMMENTARY AND DISCUSSION OF TEXTS FROM A PERSPECTIVE CONSISTENT WITH THE TRAINING OBJECTIVES. THE COURSE ALSO INCLUDES THE VIEWING, ANALYSIS AND COMMENTARY OF AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIAL TO EXEMPLIFY THE THEORETICAL CONTENT STUDIED. |

LA PROVA CONSISTE IN UN ESAME ORALE VOLTO A VERIFICARE LA PREPARAZIONE DELLO STUDENTE E L’IDONEITÀ AD UTILIZZARE LE CONOSCENZE SPECIFICHE DELLA MATERIA NEL CAMPO DELLA ESTETICA. NEL CORSO DEL COLLOQUIO DELLA DURATA INDICATIVA DI 15-20 MINUTI VERRÀ VALUTATA LA CAPACITÀ DI SAPER COMUNICARE IN MODO CHIARO E UNIVOCO LE CONOSCENZE E LE METODOLOGIE ACQUISITE. IL VOTO MASSIMO È RAGGIUNTO QUANDO LO STUDENTE DIMOSTRA DI SAPERE ILLUSTRARE CORRETTAMENTE E DISCUTERE CRITICAMENTE I TEMI OGGETTO DEL CORSO E QUINDI DI AVER ACQUISITO LA CAPACITÀ DI APPLICARE IN MODO AUTONOMO QUANTO STUDIATO SU DI UN PIANO TEORICO NELL'ANALISI DI OPERE CINEMATOGRAFICHE.
