Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Salerno, (Italy).Degree in Biological Sciences summa cum laude (1985) and PhD in Molecular Biology and Pathology (1992) at the Federico II University, Naples.CNR fellow (1982-1990), Technician (1990-2000) and, then, Researcher (2001-2006) at the “Institute of Experimental Endocrinology and Oncology” (IEOS), Naples. Associate Professore of Pathology since November 2006 at the University of Salerno.She spent 1 year (1988) at the Institute of Microbiology, University of Copenhagen (Denmark), and 1 year (1991) at the Dpt. of Morphology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva (Switzerland).Managing Editor for “Frontier in Biosciences” (2008-2009); reviewer for several international journals (including Nature, Blood, American Journal Pathology, J Cell Science, Clinical Cancer Res, JBC, etc); invited speaker at several international congresses, including the Gordon Research Conference “Plasminogen activation & extracellular proteolysis” (2006). Author of several pubblications and of chapters in book.Her research has been supported by grants from MIUR (PRIN), CNR, AIRC; EU-FP6. National Coordinator of a PRIN 2007.Her studies have been focused on the urokinase-receptor (uPAR) since many years, in particular on uPAR role in cell adhesion and migration. At present, she studies uPAR role in the biology of hematopoietic stem cells, uPAR interactions with chemotaxis receptors, post-transcriptional uPAR expression.
