GENERAL AIMS: THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ETIOLOGY AND MECHANISMS OF PATHOLOGIC PROCESSES, FOCUSING ON STRUCTURAL ALTERATIONS AND FUNCTIONAL CONSEQUENCES INDUCED BY PATHOLOGIC STIMULI IN CELLS AND TISSUES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: STUDENTS WILL DEVELOPE AND EXPAND KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF MECHANISMS REGULATING DAMAGE AND DAMAGE RESPONSE AT A CELLULAR AND TISSUE LEVEL, IMMUNE SYSTEM PATHOLOGIES, TUMOR BIOLOGY, BLOOD AND METABOLIC DISORDERS. APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO USE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE FOR UNDERSTANDING PHYSIOLOGIC AND PATHOLOGIC ISSUES AND TO FURTHER EXPLORE THE ETIOLOGY AND PATHOGENESIS OF VARIOUS HUMAN PATHOLOGIES. AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT: STUDENTS MAY ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO STUDY AND CRITICALLY EVALUATE ISSUES IN THE PHYSIOLOGIC AND PATHOLOGIC FIELD, FOCUSING ON KEY PROCESSES AND RELATED CHALLENGES. COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS: STUDENTS MAY DEVELOPE THE ABILITY TO PRESENT ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN A CLEAR AND COMPREHENSIVE MANNER AND WITH THE APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE, AND TO DISCUSS MAIN ISSUES. LEARNING ABILITIES: STUDENTS MAY ACQUIRE TOOLS TO DEVELOPE LEARNING METHODOLOGIES THAT WILL ALLOW THEM TO AUTONOMOUSLY EXPAND AND UPDATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE, ALSO MAKING USE OF CONVENTIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS, COMPUTER AIDS AND MULTIMEDIA MATERIAL. |
