Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVE

THE COURSE INTENDS TO PROVIDE TOOLS FOR AN ADEQUATE READING AND INTERPRETATION OF THE DIFFERENT TEXTUAL DECLINATIONS PRODUCED BY THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN ART AND ART WRITING ADOPTED BY CRITICISM BETWEEN THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURIES.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

THE STUDENT WILL:
- WILL KNOW THE NETWORK OF RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN LITERATURE AND ART CRITICISM;
- WILL ANALYZE THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN WRITING AND OTHER ARTS;
- WILL EXAMINE THE MAIN FIGURES AND METHODOLOGICAL ISSUES OF PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE THAT CHARACTERIZE THE CONTEMPORARY CRITICAL DEBATE.

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

THROUGH THE COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE:
- TO ACQUIRE A BETTER ABILITY TO ORIENT ONESELF IN THE SPACE OF CONTEMPORARY ART THEORY AND CRITICISM;
- TO USE THE ESSENTIAL TOOLS OF ARTISTIC AND MEDIA PRODUCTION;
- TO ANALYZE THE COMMON DIFFUSION OF THEMES, FORMS AND GENRES BETWEEN DIFFERENT MEDIA.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS

THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE A THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK THAT WILL ALLOW HIM TO:
- ANALYZE AND INTERPRET CULTURAL PHENOMENA INDEPENDENTLY;
- FORMULATE PERSONAL DEDUCTIONS IN AWARENESS OF THE COMPLEXITY OF CRITICAL JUDGMENT;
- DEVELOP A PERSONAL VISION ON THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN ART AND WRITING ABOUT ART.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

THE STUDENTE WILL BE ABLE TO CORRECTLY EXPLAIN AND ARGUE WHAT HAS BEEN LEARNED, BOTH IN WRITTEN AND ORAL FORM, USING AN APPROPRIATE VOCABULARY; THE STUDENT WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE HIS KNOWLEDGE AT DIFFERENT LEVELS (BOTH TO AN AUDIENCE OF EXPERTS AND TO NON-SPECIALISTS), EXPRESSING IT WITH LANGUAGE SKILLS AND SPECIFIC LEXICAL SKILLS, AND USING THE MOST APPROPRIATE REGISTER FOR EACH CIRCUMSTANCE.

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS AND USE BIBLIOGRAPHIC TOOLS, BOTH TRADITIONAL AND IT, TO IDENTIFY AND SELECT SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE USEFUL FOR INCREASING KNOWLEDGE.

THE COURSE INTENDS TO ANALYZE THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WRITING AND ART BY PLACING AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL WRITING AND ITS PLURAL FORMS AT THE CENTER OF THE DISCUSSION WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THEORETICAL ISSUES AND THE CRITICAL SCENE OF RECENT DECADES. IN AN ITINERARY IN WHICH LETTERS AND CORRESPONDENCE, DIARIES AND AUTOBIOGRAPHIES, BUT ALSO CRITICAL ESSAYS AND THEORETICAL TEXTS ARE ANALYSED, WE WILL TRACE - STARTING FROM THE REFLECTION OF ANGELO TRIMARCO - THE MULTIPLE FORMS OF INTELLECTUAL SELF-NARRATION AND WE WILL REFLECT ON AUTOBIOGRAPHY AS A SPACE OF PROCESSES OF SUBJECTIVATION AND PRIVILEGED ACCESS ROUTE TO THE ENCOUNTER BETWEEN ART AND WRITING.

THE COURSE (30 HOURS, WITH NON-MANDATORY ATTENDANCE) IT WILL BE ORGANIZED BY FRONTAL LESSONS AND SEMINAR MOMENTS.

THE EXAM INCLUDES AN ORAL INTERVIEW DURING WHICH THE AUTONOMOUS CAPACITY FOR REFLECTION AND THE CRITICAL MATURITY OF THE EXPOSITION OF TEXTS WILL BE ASSESSED, IN ADDITION TO THE IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS COVERED BY THE COURSE,
