GENERAL OBJECTIVE - THE COURSE AIMS TO OFFER STUDENTS THE INTERPRETATIVE TOOLS NECESSARY TO UNDERSTAND THE GEOGRAPHICAL DIMENSION OF THE MAIN THEMES AND PROBLEMS CONCERNING THE CURRENT FORMS OF TOURISM DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE GEOGRAPHICAL ANALYSIS OF THE TERRITORIAL TRANSFORMATIONS CARRIED OUT OVER TIME BY TOURISM ACTIVITIES. PARTICULAR ATTENTION WILL BE PAID TO RECENT TRENDS IN DEMAND AND WAYS OF ENJOYING THE HOLIDAY, ALSO IN RELATION TO CHANGES IN THE BEHAVIOUR, TASTES AND CHOICES OF TOURISTS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - THE STUDENT WILL KNOW THE ISSUES RELATED TO THE EVOLUTION OF THE TOURISM PHENOMENON, THE ACTORS INVOLVED AND THE RELATED POLICIES RELATED TO THE FUNCTIONING OF THE TOURISM MARKET, IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND, ON THE ONE HAND, THE MAIN SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND MOTIVATIONAL FACTORS THAT GENERATE TOURIST FLOWS AND THEIR RELATIVE GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION AND, ON THE OTHER HAND, THE BEHAVIOR OF THE ECONOMIC AND INSTITUTIONAL ACTORS OPERATING IN THE SECTOR IN ORDER TO EVALUATE THEIR THEIR IMPACT ON THE TERRITORY. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING - THE STUDENT, ASSUMING A LOCAL-GLOBAL GEOGRAPHICAL OBSERVATION PERSPECTIVE, WILL BE ABLE TO USE THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO: 1) UNDERSTAND THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIO-TERRITORIAL DYNAMICS OF TOURISM DEVELOPMENT; 2) IDENTIFY THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TOURIST USE AS WELL AS THEIR IMPACTS ON PLACES. FINALLY, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO USE THE THEORETICAL AND ANALYTICAL TOOLS OF TOURISM GEOGRAPHY IN THE FIELD OF LAND PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT WITH THE AIM OF PROMOTING AND ENHANCING NATURAL AND ANTHROPIC RESOURCES - PRESENT AND POTENTIAL - ALSO IN RELATION TO THE DIFFERENT SEGMENTS OF DEMAND AND THE CHANGING NEEDS THAT THE MARKET MANIFESTS. MAKING JUDGEMENTS - THE COURSE WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY, EVALUATE AND INTERPRET, ALSO THROUGH THE IN-DEPTH STUDY OF QUANTITATIVE AND QUALITATIVE DATA, THE ECONOMIC, ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIO-CULTURAL FACTORS THAT MUST NECESSARILY CONTRIBUTE TO THE TOURISM SUSTAINABILITY OF THE TERRITORIES INVOLVED. COMMUNICATION SKILLS - THE STUDENT, THROUGH A CORRECT USE OF METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS, CLASSIFICATION CATEGORIES AND AN APPROPRIATE GEOGRAPHICAL LANGUAGE, WILL BE ABLE TO EXPRESS AND ARGUE, IN A CLEAR AND EXHAUSTIVE WAY, THE THEMES AND CONCEPTS COVERED. LEARNING SKILLS - AT THE END OF THE COURSE AND THROUGH A GRADUAL LEARNING PROCESS CONSISTENT WITH THE CHOSEN COURSE OF STUDY, THE STUDENT WILL HAVE ACQUIRED THE NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE TO DEVELOP AWARENESS AND SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY TOWARDS LOCAL COMMUNITIES, RESOURCES AND TERRITORIES, BOTH AS A USER AND AS A TOURISM PROFESSIONAL. |

THE COURSE AIMS TO OUTLINE THE FEATURES OF TOURISM IN ITS GEOGRAPHICAL IMPLICATIONS. FOLLOWING AN INTRODUCTORY SECTION DEDICATED TO TOURISM'S HISTORICAL EVOLUTION AND DEFINING ASPECTS (10 HOURS), ATTENTION WILL BE FOCUSED ON THE MORE SPECIFICALLY TERRITORIAL DIMENSIONS AND ON THE VARIOUS GENRES OF TOURISM (10 HOURS). PARTICULAR INTEREST WILL BE GIVEN BOTH TO TOURISM-CULTURE RELATIONS (10 HOURS) AND TO HISTORICAL-CULTURAL AND LANDSCAPE-ENVIRONMENTAL VALUES (10 HOURS). |
