Flavio Giannetti includono: 1) lo studio delle instabilità convettive e della loro ricettività a diversi tipi di disturbi 2) lo studio dello sviluppo lineare e non lineare delle instabilità globali attraverso l’uso di tecniche aggiunte 3) l’analisi delle instabilità ellittiche ed iperboliche 4) generazione del suono da instabilità fluidodinamiche in flussi comprimibili 5) tecniche per l’analisi dell’ accoppiamento fluido-strutturale e lo studio delle relative instabilità 6) aerodinamica dell’ala rotante e sue applicazioni nel campo degli UAV 8) tecniche per il controllo dei flussi, per la soppressione delle instabilità ed il controllo del rumore 9) sviluppo di tecniche numeriche per l’integrazione delle equazioni di Navier-Stokes e la risoluzione numerica di problemi agli autovalori derivanti dalla discretizzazione di equazioni differenziali alle derivate parziali, 10) modellazione ed analisi di flussi astrofisici
