THE TEACHING AIMS TO ILLUSTRATE THE CONCEPTS AND FUNDAMENTAL METHODS OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH ON FIELD AND IN LABORATORY FROM A HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE. THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO MODULES: THE FIRST PART WILL BE DEDICATED TO THE ANALYSIS OF THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF STRATIGRAPHIC EXCAVATION, NAMELY IDENTIFICATION, COLLECTION, RECORDING OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL DATA. IN THE SECOND PART THE DIFFERENT METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES USED BY THE ARCHAEOLOGISTS FOR THE ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA, IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THE CHRONOLOGICAL AND FUNCTIONAL FRAMEWORK OF THE EXCAVATION CONTEXTS.
Prerequisites
NOT REQUIRED
Contents
THE COURSE INCLUDES LESSONS THAT OFFER A THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL PREPARATION OF A GENERAL NATURE USEFUL FOR SETTING UP AND CONDUCTING RESEARCH WITH A CRITICAL SPIRIT.
THE STUDY OF TEXTS BY ITALIAN AND FOREIGN SCHOLARS CHARACTERIZED BY DIFFERENT METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES WILL ALLOW TO DEVELOP A CRITICAL MIND AND SHARPEN THE SKILLS OF JUDGING AND INTERPRETATION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENTS.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO MODULES : THE FIRST, 20 HOURS (TEN LESSONS OF 2 HOURS EACH) AND THE SECOND MODULE (FIVE LESSONS OF 2 HOURS EACH).THE TEACHING TOOLS SUPPORT ARE POWER POINT PROJECTIONS, VISITS AND WORKSHOPS.
Verification of learning
DURING THE LESSONS AND DURING THE FINAL EXAM THE STUDENTS' ABILITY TO COMMUNICATE CLEARLY THE METHODOLOGICAL AND CONTENT KNOWLEDGE LEARNED WILL BE ASSESSED. CRITICAL SKILLS AND A CROSS-CORRELATION BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES WILL BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT. THE STUDENT HAS TO DEMONSTRATE TO KNOW HOW TO ORIENTATE HIMSELF WITH AWARENESS IN THE PROBLEMS OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH. THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ACQUIRED A THEORETICAL BASIS ON THE METHODOLOGICAL AND TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF THE DISCIPLINE.
