AIMS THE COURSE INTENDS TO PROVIDE SKILLS FOR THE EXTRACTION AND THE ANALYSIS OF RELATIONAL DATA USING SPECIFIC SOFTWARE. STATISTICAL MEASURES - AT GLOBAL, GROUP AND ACTOR LEVEL- AND ADVANCED TECHNIQUES ARE ADOPTED TO EXPLORE AND ANALYZE NETWORK STRUCTURES DERIVED FROM THE MEASUREMENT OF SINGLE AND/OR MULTIPLE RELATIONS. SOCIAL ROLES AND POSITIONS OF ACTORS IN NETWORK CONFIGURATIONS, NETWORK TOPOLOGICAL STRUCTURES AND GROUPS’ COMPOSITION WILL BE ANALYZED. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO EXTRACT AND ANALYZE NETWORKS ARISING FROM THE MOST COMMON SOCIAL NETWORK AND TO USE SOFTWARE FOR THE ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF NETWORK DATA. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO MANAGE NETWORKS ALSO CHARACTERIZED BY A LARGE NUMBER OF NODES AND TO ELABORATE RESEARCH REPORTS FOR THE STUDY OF INTERACTIONS BETWEEN SOCIAL ACTORS IN DIFFERENT APPLICATION FIELDS, ACQUIRING THE ABILITY TO INTERPRET THE PHENOMENA UNDER STUDY. |

THE EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF TWO PARTS: A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL INTERVIEW. THE WRITTEN TEST AIMS AT ASSESSING THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND THE ANALYTICAL INSTRUMENTS. THE WRITTEN TEST TAKES 60 MINUTES AND IT IS STRUCTURED IN EXERCISES ABOUT THE TOPICS DEVELOPED DURING THE LECTURES. THE ORAL INTERVIEW TAKES AROUND 20 MINUTES WITH A DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL TOPICS PRESENTED DURING THE LECTURES TO ASSESS THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE ABILITY AND THE QUALITY OF ORAL EXPOSITION. THE ORAL INTERVIEW TAKES ABOUT 20 MINUTES WITH A DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL TOPICS PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE TO ASSESS THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE ABILITY AND THE QUALITY OF ORAL EXPOSITION. |
