AIMS THE LABORATORY INTENDS TO PRESENT THE USEFULNESS OF THE AVAILABLE DATA FROM THE OFFICIAL STATISTICAL SOURCES FOR THE STUDY OF SOCIAL PHENOMENON. IT PROVIDES THE FUNDAMENTALS OF DESCRIPTIVE STATISTICS TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO DISTINGUISH THE KIND OF VARIABLES ACCORDING TO THEIR MEASUREMENT SCALE AND TO PROCESS THE INFORMATION BY USING STATISTICAL SOFTWARES AND ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEET. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY STATISTICAL TOOLS TO SUMMARIZE THE INFORMATION INCLUDED IN DATASET OBTAINED FROM SECONDARY DATA SOURCES THROUGH THE DEFINITION OF GRAPHS, TABLES AND DESCRIPTIVE INDICES AND TO PROVIDE AN INTERPRETATION OF THE RESULTS BY CONSIDERING SOCIOLOGICAL THEORIES. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO EXTRACT AND ANALYZE DATASETS FROM SECONDARY DATA SOURCES BY USING STATISTICAL SOFTWARE AND ELECTRONIC SPREADSHEET. INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO DRAW UP SUMMARY REPORTS FOR THE DESCRIPTION AND INTERPRETATION OF THE PHENOMENA UNDER STUDY. COMMUNICATION SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE, THROUGH TEXTS OR VIRTUAL TOOLS, THE RESULTS OF PROCESSING CONDUCTED FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE PHENOMENA UNDER STUDY. LEARNING ABILITY THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO USE COMPUTER RESOURCES FOR THE ANALYSIS AND STORAGE OF DATA AND TO PROCEED TO UPDATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE USING THE SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE. |
