THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS. THE FIRST PART IS AN INTRODUCTION TO THE MAIN PHONOLOGICAL, MORPHOLOGICAL, SYNTACTIC AND SEMANTIC ASPECTS OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. IT PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH DESCRIPTIVE AND METALINGUISTIC TOOLS USEFUL TO IDENTIFY AND ANALYZE THE MAIN STRUCTURES OF ENGLISH IN DIFFERENT TEXT TYPES. THE SECOND, MORE PRACTICAL PART, CONSISTS OF THE LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT CONTEMPORARY AUTHENTIC TEXT TYPES. THE COURSE REQUIRES A B2 ENTRY LEVEL (COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE). THE INTERACTIVE NATURE OF THE COURSE CALLS FOR AN ACTIVE PARTICIPATION DURING LESSONS IN THE CLASSROOM, WHICH WILL BE ENRICHED BY PRACTICE EXERCISES AND BY THE RETRIEVAL OF ONLINE TEXTS. |
