Objectives
Aim of the course is to guarantee the ability to understand the contribution of photography in the development of contemporary artistic research and the role of it within the communication systems.
Knowledge and understanding:
The course offers an overview on the history of photographic language, from the origins up to the present day, with reference to the trials and stylistic techniques, in comparison with the visual arts.
Applying knowledge and understanding:
The student acquires knowledge of the main events that characterize the evolution of the photographic language and a methodology to analyse the relationship between photography and other artistic expressions.

KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORICAL, CULTURAL AND ARTISTIC CONTEXT IN WHICH PHOTOGRAPHY WAS BORN AND BEGAN TO SPREAD
Contents
THE COURSE IS AIMED AT UNDERSTANDING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TECHNICAL EVOLUTION OF PHOTOGRAPHY AND ITS EXPRESSIVE POSSIBILITIES THROUGH THE STUDY OF PHOTOGRAPHERS, CULTURAL MOVEMENTS AND RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER ARTISTIC LANGUAGES. IN PARTICULAR, HE FOCUSES ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN GENRES AND THEMES OF PHOTOGRAPHY IN RELATION TO THE ITALIAN, EUROPEAN AND NORTH AMERICAN SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT.

FRONT LESSONS AND STUDENT PARTICIPATION.
Verification of learning
Oral examination based on the recognition of photographs in cultural and figurative context.
