THE OBJECTIVES OF COURSE ARE PART OF THE GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE DEGREE COURSE, AIMED TO TRAIN AN EXPERT FOR THE MONITORING, EVALUATION, MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL AND ANTHROPOGENIC RISKS AND LAND MANAGEMENT. THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE BASIC KNOWLEDGE ON THE BIOLOGY, ESSENTIAL TO DEVELOP ADEQUATE SKILLS, TO UNDERSTAND THE BASIC PROCESSES AT ALL DIFFERENT LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION OF THE LIVING BEINGS. THESE KNOWLEDGES WILL BE ESSENTIAL AND NECESSARY TO FACE THE FOLLOWING TEACHINGS AND/OR LECTURES DIRECTLY RELATED TO ENVIRONMENTAL AND NATURAL SCIENCES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE COURSE WILL BE AIMED TO DEVELOP THE ABILITIES TO OBSERVE CELLULAR STRUCTURES, TISSUES AND ORGANS, AND OF THE MAIN BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES, WITH THE SUPPORT OF ADVANCED TEXTBOOKS AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL PROVIDED BY THE TEACHER. A FURTHER OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE WILL BE TO PROVIDE TOOLS TO PROCESS AND/OR APPLY THE LEARNED NOTIONS REGARDING THE STUDY OF CELLS, PROKARYOTIC AND EUKARYOTIC, THEIR ORIGIN AND EVOLUTION, STRUCTURE, ORGANIZATION, FUNCTIONS, REPRODUCTION AND TRANSMISSION OF GENETIC INFORMATION, AS WELL AS USEFUL KNOWLEDGE FOR THE ANALYSIS OF THE IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIPS AMONG LIVING ORGANISMS, WHICH ARE ESTABLISHED AT HIGHER LEVELS OF COMPLEXITY. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE AIM OF COURSE WILL BE TO ACQUIRE SKILLS TO CREATE AND SUPPORT TOPICS ADDRESSED TO THE MAIN CONCEPTS OF BIOLOGY. THE LEARNED KNOWLEDGE WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO SOLVE PROBLEMS, IN NEW (UNFAMILIAR) AND INTERDISCIPLINARY AREAS, RELATED TO THE STUDY OF BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION. MAKING JUDGMENTS: THE AIM OF COURSE WILL BE TO LEARN THE ABILITY TO COLLECT AND ANALYZE SEVERAL DATA, TO DISCRIMINATE THE BIOLOGICAL BASIS OF THE VARIETY AND LIFESTYLES OF THE LIVING BEINGS. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO INTEGRATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE INDEPENDENTLY, TO BETTER MANAGE THE COMPLEXITY OF THE ISSUES RELATED TO THE INTERPRETATION OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA OF BIOLOGICAL PHENOMENA. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: THE AIM OF COURSE WILL BE TO DEVELOP SKILLS FOR COMMUNICATION OF BASIC NOTIONS, TO SPECIALISTS AND OTHERS, RELATED TO MORPHOLOGY, CELL STRUCTURE AND BIOLOGICAL PROCESSES, BY MEANS OF A BASIC VOCABULARY SPECIFIC FOR THE BIOLOGICAL FIELD. LEARNING SKILLS: THE COURSE WILL PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH THE NECESSARY SKILLS FOR A SELF-MANAGED AND INDEPENDENT STUDY, WHICH WILL ALLOW THEM TO INTEGRATE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE AND DIRECT OBSERVATION, REASON ON BIOLOGICAL QUESTIONS, EXPOSE BIOLOGICAL CONCEPTS IN AN ARTICULATE BUT CONCISE MANNER, PASS OTHER EXAMS RELATED TO THE BIOLOGY. |

THE EXAM IS A WRITTEN TEST (15 MINUTES) AND AN ORAL COLLOQUIUM (30 MINUTES). THE WRITTEN TEST CONSISTS OF 15 QUESTIONS, WITH MULTIPLE CHOICE ANSWER, RELATING TO THE COURSE'S TOPICS. ONE POINT IS GIVEN FOR EACH CORRECT ANSWER, 0 POINTS FOR EACH WRONG OR NO ANSWER. THE TEST IS CONSIDERED PASSED WHEN AN EVALUATION EQUAL TO OR HIGHER THAN 9 IS OBTAINED. THE ORAL COLLOQUIUM IS ADDRESSED TO EVALUATE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ON GENERAL BIOLOGY, GAINED BY THE STUDENT ON THE TOPICS PROPOSED BY THE TEACHER DURING THE COURSE. THE MINIMUM MARK CAN BE 18/30 AND IT IS ATTRIBUTED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS DEALT WITH IN THE COURSE BY THE TEACHER, AND MODEST EXPRESSIVE ABILITIES, BUT SUFFICIENT TO SUPPORT A COHERENT DIALOGUE. THE MAXIMUM MARK (30/30) IS ATTRIBUTED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A COMPLETE AND PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE OFOF THE TOPICS DEALT WITH IN THE COURSE AND RELATING TO GENERAL BIOLOGY, REMARKABLE EXPRESSIVE CAPABILITIES AND GOOD MASTERY OF SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE. "LAUDE" IS GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO DEMONSTRATE A COMPLETE DEGREE OF PREPARATION AND APPROPRIATE USE OF THE SPECIFIC VOCABULARY. IT MAY BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO REACH THE MAXIMUM MARK OF 30/30 AND WHO DEMONSTRATE EXCELLENT DIALOGICAL AND SYNTHETIC ABILITIES, A MARKED APTITUDE TO MAKE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN DIFFERENT TOPICS, TO BE ABLE TO APPLY INDEPENDENTLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS EVEN IN CONTEXTS DIVERSE FROM THOSE PROPOSED BY TEACHER. |
