THE OBJECTIVES OF COURSE ARE PART OF THE GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE DEGREE COURSE, AIMED TO TRAIN AN EXPERT FOR THE MONITORING, EVALUATION, MANAGEMENT OF NATURAL AND ANTHROPOGENIC RISKS AND LAND MANAGEMENT. THE COURSE IS AIMED TO PROVIDE BASIC KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE EVOLUTION MECHANISMS ABLE TO ALLOW THE APPEARANCE OF LIVING BEINGS ON THE EARTH AND THE FOLLOWING DIFFERENTIATION OF SEVERAL SPECIES WHICH COLONIZE SIGNIFICANTLY DIVERSIFIED ENVIRONMENTS. THE COURSE WILL PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE EVOLUTION OF MAIN TERRESTRIAL ORGANISMS, WITH REGARD TO THE ORIGIN OF LIFE, TO THE MAIN STEPS OF EVOLUTION AND THE RELEVANCE OF THE EVOLUTION FOR BIODIVERSITY. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE AIM OF COURSE WILL BE TO DEVELOP SKILLS TO UNDERSTAND AND DISCUSS THE MAIN PROCESSES AND MECHANISMS OF EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ACTION OF EVOLUTIONARY PROCESSES ON EXISTING BIODIVERSITY, WITH THE SUPPORT OF ADVANCED TEXTBOOKS AND MATERIAL PROVIDED BY THE TEACHER. A FURTHER OBJECTIVE OF THE TEACHING WILL BE TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH THE TOOLS TO PROCESS AND/OR APPLY THE NOTIONS LEARNED REGARDING THE STUDY OF THE BIOLOGICAL AND MOLECULAR BASES OF EVOLUTION, OF THE MODELS AND MECHANISMS OF BIOLOGICAL EVOLUTION. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: THE COURSE WILL BE AIMED TO THE ACQUISITION OF THE BASIC TOOLS TO CORRECTLY USE THE TERMINOLOGY OF EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY, SUPPORT ARGUMENTS ON THE MAIN CONCEPTS RELATED TO EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY. THE LEARNED KNOWLEDGE WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE OF EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY TO ANY BIOLOGICAL DISCIPLINE, FRAME ECOLOGICAL-ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS OF CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT OF BIODIVERSITY IN AN EVOLUTIONARY PERSPECTIVE, AND IN NEW (UNFAMILY) AND INTERDISCIPLINARY AREAS. MAKING JUDGMENTS: THE AIM OF COURSE WILL BE TO LEARN THE ABILITY TO COLLECT AND ANALYZE SEVERAL DATA, TO DISCRIMINATE THE BIOLOGICAL BASES OF THE EVOLUTION AND COMPLEXITY OF LIVING ORGANISMS. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO INTEGRATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE INDEPENDENTLY TO BETTER MANAGE THE COMPLEXITY OF THE ISSUES RELATED TO THE INTERPRETATION OF EXPERIMENTAL DATA ON EVOLUTION PHENOMENA. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: THE AIM OF COURSE WILL BE TO DEVELOP SKILLS FOR COMMUNICATION OF BASIC NOTIONS, TO SPECIALISTS AND OTHERS, RELATED TO EVOLUTIVE MECHANISMS AND THEIR RELEVANCE FOR LIVING BEINGS, BY MEANS OF A BASIC VOCABULARY SPECIFIC FOR THE BIOLOGICAL FIELD. LEARNING SKILLS: THE COURSE WILL PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH THE NECESSARY SKILLS FOR A SELF-MANAGED AND INDEPENDENT STUDY, WHICH WILL ALLOW THEM TO INTEGRATE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE AND DIRECT OBSERVATION, EXPOSE CONCEPTS ON THE EVOLUTION IN AN ARTICULATE BUT CONCISE MANNER, PASS OTHER RELATED EXAMS. |
Prerequisites | |

THE EXAM IS AN ORAL COLLOQUIUM (30 MINUTES). IT IS ADDRESSED TO EVALUATE KNOWLEDGE RELATING TO THE COURSE'S TOPICS AND SKILLS, GAINED BY THE STUDENT ON THE TOPICS PROPOSED BY THE TEACHER DURING THE COURSE. THE MINIMUM MARK CAN BE 18/30 AND IT IS ATTRIBUTED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOPICS DEALT WITH IN THE COURSE BY THE TEACHER, AND MODEST EXPRESSIVE ABILITIES, BUT SUFFICIENT TO SUPPORT A COHERENT DIALOGUE. THE MAXIMUM MARK (30/30) IS ATTRIBUTED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A COMPLETE AND PROFOUND KNOWLEDGE OFOF THE TOPICS DEALT WITH IN THE COURSE AND RELATING TO GENERAL BIOLOGY, REMARKABLE EXPRESSIVE CAPABILITIES AND GOOD MASTERY OF SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE. "LAUDE" IS GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO DEMONSTRATE A COMPLETE DEGREE OF PREPARATION AND APPROPRIATE USE OF THE SPECIFIC VOCABULARY. IT MAY BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO REACH THE MAXIMUM MARK OF 30/30 AND WHO DEMONSTRATE EXCELLENT DIALOGICAL AND SYNTHETIC ABILITIES, A MARKED APTITUDE TO MAKE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN DIFFERENT TOPICS, TO BE ABLE TO APPLY INDEPENDENTLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS EVEN IN CONTEXTS DIVERSE FROM THOSE PROPOSED BY TEACHER. |
