Objectives
THE AIM OF THE PROGRAMME IS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE BASIC SCIENTIFIC, THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL SKILLS TO USE NUMISMATIC DOCUMENTATION AS A SOURCE OF HISTORICAL KNOWLEDGE.
STUDENTS MUST BE ABLE TO APPLY THEIR KNOWLEDGE IN HISTORICAL AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND TO USE THEIR KNOWLEDGE TO ADDRESS PROBLEMS OF PROTECTION AND VALORISATION OF ANCIENT COINS.
STUDENTS MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO INTEGRATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF NUMISMATICS WITH RELATED TOPICS IN THE FIELD OF HISTORICAL RESEARCH, SHOWING CRITICAL APTITUDE AND INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT.
IN THE COURSE OF THE LESSONS AND DURING THE FINAL EXAMINATION THE STUDENTS' ABILITY TO CLEARLY COMMUNICATE THE CONTENT AND METHODOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE THEY HAVE ACQUIRED AND THEIR CONCLUSIONS WILL BE TESTED.
THE KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION SKILLS ACQUIRED MAY ENABLE STUDENTS TO APPROACH THE STUDY OF OTHER DISCIPLINES IN THE FIELD OF ANCIENT HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY STUDIES WITH ADEQUATE CRITICAL TOOLS, EVEN AT HIGHER LEVELS OF TRAINING, SUCH AS, FOR EXAMPLE, THE MASTER'S DEGREE IN ARCHAEOLOGY. THE MASTER'S DEGREE IN ARCHAEOLOGY, CLASSICAL PHILOLOGY OR ANCIENT HISTORY.

KNOWLEDGE OF THE BASICS OF ANCIENT HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY
Contents

AN ADDITIONAL MODULE WILL FOCUS ON PRACTICAL EXERCISES ON THE CLASSIFICATION OF GREEK AND ROMAN COINS ARE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE COURSE, IN ORDER TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE TOOLS FOR THE CORRECT IDENTIFICATION OF THE COIN FIND, THE RULES FOR FILING AND COMPILING THE NU CARD, AND THE CRITERIA FOR CONSULTING THE MAIN NUMISMATIC REPERTORIES. THE METHODS OF NUMISMATIC RESEARCH RELATING TO THE INTERPRETATION OF COIN FINDS FROM MULTI-LAYERED ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES WILL ALSO BE EXPLORED DURING THE EXERCISES (15 HOURS WORKSHOP).
