Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVE

THE COURSE AIMS TO INTRODUCE STUDENTS, EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT STUDENTS OF SPANISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE, TO THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXTS OF CONTEMPORARY SPAIN AND SPANISH AMERICA, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE EXCHANGES AND INTERSECTIONS BETWEEN EUROPEAN AND AMERICAN LITERARY TRADITIONS.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL LEARN ABOUT:
- THE HISTORICAL, GEOGRAPHICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXTS OF THE MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ERA OF SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES;
- METHODOLOGIES FOR ANALYSING LITERARY TEXTS.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- APPLY METHODOLOGIES FOR THE LITERARY ANALYSIS OF TEXTS.
- SELECT AND/OR DEVELOP EXAMPLES OF SIMILARITIES/DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SIMILAR LITERARY PHENOMENA IN SPAIN AND HISPANIC AMERICA.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- FORMULATE HYPOTHESES, RECOGNISE LOGICAL CONNECTIONS, ARGUE, COMPARE AND EVALUATE LITERARY TEXTS;
- PLACE AND CONSIDER LITERARY PHENOMENA IN RELATION TO THEIR CULTURAL AND SPATIAL CONTEXTS OF REFERENCE, AS WELL AS THEIR EVOLUTION OVER TIME.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- TO INTERVENE IN A CONSCIOUS MANNER IN VARIOUS SOCIO-CULTURAL CONTEXTS AND EXPLAIN THE CULTURAL CONTENTS OF THE DISCIPLINE;
- COMMUNICATE INFORMATION, IDEAS, PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS IN THE SPECIFIC DISCIPLINARY FIELD WITH APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE AND GOOD ARTICULATION OF THOUGHT.

LEARNING SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET LITERARY AND NON-LITERARY TEXTS;
- CONDUCT RESEARCH AND CONTINUOUSLY UPDATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE.

KNOWLEDGE OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE IS NOT REQUIRED, THE COURSE WILL BE HELD IN ITALIAN WITH ITALIAN TEXTS

ANALYSIS OF THE FUNCTION AND WRITING METHODS OF TESTIMONIAL AND HISTORICAL LITERATURE, WITHIN A GLOBAL HISTORY OF REPRESSION AND RESISTANCE: NAZI FASCISM, FRANCOISM, DICTATURES OF CONO SUR

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS DELIVERED MAINLY THROUGH LECTURES, SUPPLEMENTED BY SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES, AND BY PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES IN THE CLASSROOM.
Verification of learning
VERIFICATION OF LEARNING WILL TAKE PLACE THROUGH A FINAL ORAL EXAM OF APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES, IN ITALIAN. THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THAT HE/SHE KNOWS HOW TO RECONSTRUCT THE CULTURAL-HISTORICAL PROCESSES THAT HAVE AFFECTED THE HISPANIC 20TH CENTURY SCENARIO, FROM SPAIN TO LATIN AMERICA, AND TO IDENTIFY GENRES AND DISCURSIVE FORMS THROUGH WHICH THE LITERARY WORD HAS CONFRONTED THE TRAUMAS OF HISTORY, ALSO THROUGH THE ILLUSTRATIVE RECOURSE TO THE WORKS INDICATED IN THE PROGRAM AND STUDIED DURING THE COURSE.
THE FOLLOWING IN PARTICULAR WILL BE ASSESSED:
-THE EXPOSITORY STYLE
- THE RICHNESS OF THE INFORMATION EXHIBITED IN THE INTERVIEW
-THE ABILITY TO CONSTRUCT A COHERENT AND UNIFIED DISCOURSE, INCLUDING IN THE CORRELATION OF PHENOMENA OF DIFFERENT HISTORICAL, GEOGRAPHICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXTS
-THE COMPETENCE IN THE USE OF ANALYTICAL TOOLS IN THE COMMENTARY OF LITERARY TEXTS

STUDENTS ATTENDING THE COURSE WILL BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE WRITTEN EXAMS
