THE COURSE PROMOTES THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL, INSTITUTIONAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC FOUNDATIONS OF TODAY'S SOCIETY, THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE HISTORICAL PROCESSES OF THE MODERN AGE IN EUROPE. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOWING MODERNIZATION PROCESSES IN EUROPE, WITH THE ANALYSIS OF SPECIFIC CASES THAT MAY BE INTERESTING AND SIGNIFICANT FOR THE PROBLEMS OF STARTING AND TRAINING WORK. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO BE ABLE TO USE THE METHODS OF HISTORICAL ANALYSIS OF SOCIO-INSTITUTIONAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROBLEMS, FOR PRACTICING THEM ALSO FOR THE ANALYSIS OF CURRENT PROBLEMS. |

IN ORDER TO PROMOTE AN ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE INSTITUTIONS AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC SYSTEMS OF THE NATIONAL AND EUROPEAN CONTEXT IN WHICH THE FUTURE GRADUATE WILL HAVE TO OPERATE, THE COURSE PROPOSES THE STUDY OF THE MAIN HISTORICAL EVENTS OF THE MODERN EUROPE, TO FIND THE EUROPEAN IDENTITY, TO TRACE THE ORIGINS OF STATE AND CITIZENSHIP CONCEPT, OF THE SENSE OF NATIONAL BELONGING, OF THE GLOBALIZATION DYNAMICS, OF THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC PROCESSES OF MODERNITY, THROUGH COMPARISONS AND CONTEXTUALIZATIONS IN DIACHRONIC AND SYNCHRONIC PERSPECTIVE, IN ORDER TO ARGUE CORRECTLY. IN SUMMARY, THE MAIN TOPICS WILL BE THE FOLLOWING: STATE AND RENAISSANCE; RELIGIOUS DIVISIONS; BALANCE AND HEGEMONY FROM CHARLES VIII TO CHARLES V; EUROPEAN WORLD PRIMATE AND HEGEMONIAN STATES; CRISIS, CONFLICTS AND REVOLUTIONS IN THE SEVENTH CENTURY; MODERN STATE, SOCIETY AND ABSOLUTE MONARCHY; THE AGE OF EUROPEAN BALANCE: WARS, ILLUMINISM AND REFORMS; THE ATLANTIC REVOLUTIONS: FROM THE AMERICAN INDEPENDENCE TO THE FRENCH REVOLUTION; NAPOLEONIC EUROPE. |

THE COURSE AIMS TO ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS, SUITABLE FOR UNDERTAKING THE EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONS WITH THE POSSESSION OF A SOLID CULTURE AND INTERPRETATIVE SKILLS. THE TEACHING METHODS ADOPTED PROMOTE THIS PROCESS, THROUGH THE INTEGRATION OF DIFFERENT ACTIONS: LECTURES ON MAIN TOPICS, SUPPORTED BY THE USE OF MASS-MEDIA TOOLS, FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSION WITH STUDENTS; READING AND CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF SHORT DOCUMENTS REPRESENTING IMPORTANT HISTORICAL EVENTS. |

FINAL ORAL EXAMINATION VERIFIES OBJECTIVES ABOUT KNOWLEDGE, CORRECT LANGUAGE, CRITICAL CAPACITIES. IT CONSISTS OF QUESTIONS ON THE SUBJECTS SUBMITTED DURING THE LESSONS AND REPERIBLE IN THE PRESCRIPTED BOOKS. IT CHECKS THE LEARNING OF THE CONTENTS, THE DISCUSSION CAPACITY, THE APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE, THE POSSESS OF CONCEPTS AND CONNEXIONS. |
