Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS AT DEEPENING ORAL AND WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS, SYNTAX AND VERBAL TENSES, AS WELL AS PROVIDING A CRITICAL REFLECTION ON THE MAIN TRANSLATION STRATEGIES.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL:
-CONSOLIDATE EXPERIENCE OF READING AND LISTENING TO DOCUMENTS OF VARIOUS KINDS IN FRENCH. ABILITY TO USE COMPUTER PROGRAMS IN ORDER TO PROCESS FRENCH TEXTS;
-STRENGTHEN THEIR FRENCH READING AND LISTENING SKILLS OF DOCUMENTS OF VARIOUS KINDS;
-LEARN HOW TO USE COMPUTER PROGRAMS FOR WORD PROCESSING IN FRENCH;
-KNOW ABOUT THE MAIN TRANSLATION STRATEGIES

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- USE BOTH WRITTEN AND ORAL FRENCH AT A B2 LEVEL OF THE EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES.
- CARRY OUT A LINGUISTIC ANALYSIS THROUGH THEORETICAL REFLECTIONS AND PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES ON TEXTS OF DIFFERENT GENRES;
- PRODUCE AND TRANSLATE TEXTS ABOUT VARIOUS TOPICS, ALTHOUGH NOT HIGHLY SPECIALIZED.

MAKING JUDGEMENTS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO
- AUTONOMOUSLY ANALYZE AND EVALUATE LINGUISTIC, NORMATIVE AND COMMUNICATIVE ASPECTS, AS WELL AS THE MAIN METHODS OF TRANSFERRING FROM ONE LANGUAGE INTO ANOTHER.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO DEAL WITH A WIDE RANGE OF COMMUNICATIVE, PROFESSIONAL AS WELL AS SOCIAL AND ACADEMIC SITUATIONS.

LEARNING SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY REFERENCES, TOOLS AND LEARNING SKILLS NECESSARY TO GET FURTHER LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL SKILLS ALSO WITH THE AID OF IT TOOLS.

CENTRAL ISSUES IN TRANSLATION THEORY AND PRACTICE WILL BE ADDRESSED THROUGH COMPARATIVE AND CONTRASTIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN LANGUAGES IN CONTACT, BY TRANSLATING TEXTS OF VARIOUS TYPES.

METHODS AND OBJECTIVES OF TRANSLATION INTO ITALIAN.

GIVEN THE IMPORTANCE THAT NEW TECHNOLOGIES HAVE ACQUIRED TODAY, PARTICULARLY IN THE TRANSLATION PROFESSION, THE COURSE ALSO AIMS TO EFFECTIVELY DEVELOP THE NECESSARY SKILLS TO USE DIGITAL TOOLS AND FOSTER COLLABORATIVE WORK IN ONLINE ENVIRONMENTS.

ATTENDING STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE INDIVIDUALIZED SUPPORT BOTH IN TRANSLATION EXERCISES AND IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF ALTERNATIVE STUDY PROPOSALS. SOME ACTIVITIES WILL INTRODUCE STUDENTS TO RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION METHODOLOGIES.
Teaching Methods
THE FRENCH LANGUAGE III COURSE INCLUDES 45 HOURS OF LESSONS.
88 HOURS OF LINGUISTIC PRACTICE WITH THE COLLABORATORS AND LINGUISTIC EXPERTS ARE PROVIDED.
Verification of learning
THE FINAL EXAM INCLUDES A 6-HOUR PROPAEDEUTIC WRITTEN TEST, THE PASSING OF WHICH IS A REQUIREMENT FOR ACCESS TO THE ORAL EXAM.
THE WRITTEN TEST COVERS THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE, BASED ON THE CONTENT OF THE TEXTBOOKS ADOPTED FOR THE STUDY OF FRENCH.
STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PASS:
- A DICTATION TO TEST PHONETIC, PHONOLOGICAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE,
- AN IN-LANGUAGE COMPOSITION ON THE CIVILIZATION TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE,
- A TRANSLATION FROM FRENCH INTO ITALIAN.
THE ORAL TEST WILL CONSIST OF AN INTERVIEW ON THE TOPICS STUDIED AND EXPLORED IN DEPTH DURING THE COURSE. PARTICULAR IMPORTANCE WILL BE ATTACHED TO THE REPORT AND COMMENTARY ON THE TOPICS THAT THE STUDENT WILL HAVE CHOSEN TO STUDY IN DEPTH IN A GROUP OR INDEPENDENTLY. HE/SHE MUST, IN ADDITION, BE ABLE TO CORRECTLY TRANSLATE ONE OF THE TEXTS STUDIED.
THE FINAL GRADE WILL BE THE RESULT OF THE AVERAGE OF THE MARKS OBTAINED IN EACH EXAMINATION PAPER.
THE AWARD OF THE MAXIMUM GRADE IN THIRTIETHS (30/30) WILL CORRESPOND TO THE TOTAL ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES, FROM 27 TO 29/30 THE ACHIEVEMENT OF ALL THE OBJECTIVES WITH SOME GAPS, FROM 24 TO 26/30 THE PRACIAL ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES, FROM 18 TO 23/30 THE ACHIEVEMENT OF 50% OF THE COURSE OBJECTIVES.
