Objectives
THE CLASS AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENTS WITH THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF ANCIENT HISTORY (GREEK AND ROMAN), IN ITS HISTORIOGRAPHICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL SETTING AND FUNDAMENTAL ASPECTS, HIGHLIGHTING THE POLITICAL, ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL CHARACTERISTICS THROUGH THE READING AND ANALYSIS OF DOCUMENTARY SOURCES, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO LITERARY AND EPIGRAPHIC SOURCES.

FROM THE MYCENAEAN CIVILIZATION TO THE ARCHAIC AGE (10 0RE)
THE GREEK WORLD IN THE CLASSICAL AGE (10 HOURS)
THE HELLENISTIC WORLD (8 HOURS)
ROME: ORIGINS, MONARCHY, REPUBLIC, EXPANSION IN ITALY (6 HOURS)
EXPANSION IN THE MEDITERRANEAN AND THE AGE OF CIVIL WARS (8 HOURS)
BIRTH OF THE PRINCIPATUS AND THE EARLY EMPIRE (8 HOURS)

READING OF ANCIENT LITERARY SOURCES RELATING TO THE TOPICS COVERED.

Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF AN ORAL TEST THAT AIMS TO VERIFY:
- THE KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORICAL ISSUES AND OF THE LINES OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE HISTORY OF THE GREEK AND ROMAN WORLD;
- THE UNDERSTANDING OF PLACING EVENTS IN TIME AND SPACE, CONTEXTUALIZING HISTORICAL EVENTS, IDENTIFY CAUSES AND EFFECTS, MAKE CONNECTIONS, USE THE SPECIFIC BASIC VOCABULARY;
- MAKING JUDGEMENT: ANALYZE, EVALUATING AND FILTERING THE DATA AND ELABORATE REFLECTIONS AND CRITICAL CONSIDERATIONS IN THE VARIOUS SECTORS OF COMPETENCE;
- COMMUNICATION SKILLS: EXPOSING THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE CORRECTLY AND ORGANICALLY.
THE FINAL GRADE WILL DEPEND ON THE MATURITY ACQUIRED ON THE COURSE CONTENTS.
