THE COURSE AIMS TO OFFER STUDENTS HISTORICAL-CULTURAL KNOWLEDGES, THEORETICAL NOTIONS AND CRITICAL TOOLS NECESSARY TO DEAL WITH THE STUDY OF EXPERIENCES OF CONTEMPORARY SPANISH LITERATURE WITH A MARKED SOCIAL, HISTORICAL AND MEMORIAL CONTENT, RELATED TO MOMENTS OF CRISIS AND HISTORICAL FRACTURES, MARKED BY VIOLENT PHENOMENA SUCH AS WARS, CIVIL WARS, AUTHORITARIAN AND DICTATORIAL REGIMES, ETC. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL: - DEEPEN ASPECTS, PROBLEMS AND HISTORICAL-SOCIAL SCENARIOS OF THE CONTEMPORARY SPANISH CULTURE; - ACQUIRE THE FUNDAMENTAL THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVES AROUND PROBLEMATIC SCENARIOS OF CONTEMPORANEITY (MEMORY/POSTMEMORY; THE FUNCTION OF LITERATURE IN THE ELABORATION AND REPRESENTATION OF THE TRAUMATIC PAST OF A COMMUNITY; LITERATURE AS A HISTORIOGRAPHICAL SOURCE, ETC.). APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: -IDENTIFY THE CRITICAL TOOLS TO INTERPRET AND ANALYZE TEXTS OF DIFFERENT TYPES, LINKING THEM TO THE HISTORICAL-CULTURAL CONTEXTS OF REFERENCE. MAKING JUDGEMENTS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: -DISCUSS WITH A CRITICAL ATTITUDE THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE, CONTEXTUALIZING THEM AND CONNECTING THEM WITH OTHER AREAS IN AN INTERDISCIPLINARY PERSPECTIVE. COMMUNICATION SKILLS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: -COMMUNICATE IN THE SPANISH LANGUAGE, WITH AN APPROPRIATE AND SPECIFIC LANGUAGE, BOTH IN ORAL AND WRITTEN PRODUCTION; -PRESENT, THROUGH ORAL SPEECHES, THE RESULTS OF RESEARCH, PAPERS, ETC., DEVELOPED INDEPENDENTLY LEARNING SKILLS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: -USE CRITICAL LITERATURE, INDEPENDENTLY PREPARE BIBLIOGRAPHIC SEARCHES WITH THE AIM OF UNDERTAKING INVESTIGATIONS, IN-DEPTH STUDIES, ETC. |

THE COURSE AIMS TO GUIDE STUDENTS THROUGH 20TH CENTURY SPANISH LITERATURE AND CULTURAL HISTORY, PROVIDING PRACTICAL AND THEORETICAL TOOLS FOR TEXTS ANALYSIS AND BASIC LITERARY RESEARCH. THERE WILL BE TWO PARTS. THE FIRST WILL GIVE AN OVERVIEW TO THE MAIN MOVEMENTS AND “GENERACIONES” OF THE 20TH CENTURY, ESPECIALLY THE POST-WAR PERIOD. THE SECOND PART WILL BE ANALYTICAL, STUDYING SOME EXEMPLARY TEXTS OF FEMALE WRITING, WITH AN EMPHASIS ON BILDUNGSROMAN. CONTENTS: -DERROTA, EXILIO Y RESTITUCIÓN DE LA MODERNIDAD (4H) - POSGUERRA, CULTURA Y LITERATURA (4H) - LA NOVELA FEMENINA ENTRE POSGUERRA Y TRANSICIÓN (26H) - EL ENSAYO Y LA PRENSA (6H) - TÉCNICAS Y HERRAMIENTAS DE INVESTIGACIÓN LITERARIA (5H) |

THE COURSE CONSISTS OF LECTURES (40 HOURS), GROUP AND INDIVIDUAL CLASS EXERCISES (5 HOURS). THE LECTURES WILL PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE ON THE TOPICS COVERED, OFFERING THE CONCEPTUAL AND CRITICAL TOOLS NECESSARY FOR THE ANALYSIS AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE COURSE CONTENT. THE EXERCISES WILL ENABLE STUDENTS TO DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO PRACTICALLY AND INDEPENDENTLY APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED, THROUGH GUIDED ACTIVITIES, CASE STUDIES, DISCUSSIONS, AND THE PREPARATION OF A FINAL PROJECT. THE FINAL PROJECT WILL BE PRESENTED IN CLASS AND DISCUSSED INDIVIDUALLY DURING THE INSTRUCTOR’S OFFICE HOURS. PARTICIPATION IN THE COURSE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT EXCEED 20% OF ABSENCES WILL BE CONSIDERED AS ATTENDING. |

THE EXAM IS ORAL AND IN SPANISH. STUDENTS WHO ATTEND THE COURSE REGULARLY MAY AGREE WITH THE PROFESSOR ON A PAPER FOCUSED ON TOPICS COVERED DURING THE COURSE. IN ANY CASE, THE EXAM WILL ASSESS THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE, THE ABILITY TO EXPRESS ONESELF CORRECTLY IN SPANISH ON COURSE TOPICS, AND THE ABILITY TO ANALYZE AND APPROPRIATELY PLACE THE TEXTS AND AUTHORS STUDIED WITHIN THE HISTORICAL-LITERARY CONTEXT OF THE PERIOD. |
