Objectives
THE TEACHING AIMS TO PROMOTE A GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE BY PROVIDING THE STUDENT WITH PHONETIC, GRAMMATICAL, LEXICAL AND NOTIONAL-FUNCTIONAL TOOLS NECESSARY TO ACQUIRE AND CONSOLIDATE THE USE OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO PRACTICE THE FOUR BASIC SKILLS IN AN INTEGRATED MANNER (COMPREHENSION AND PRODUCTION OF WRITTEN TEXTS, ORAL COMPREHENSION AND EXPRESSION) AND WILL HAVE DEVELOPED THE ABILITY TO READ AND COMPREHEND TEXTS IN THE LANGUAGE. IN ADDITION, HE/SHE WILL BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN A CONVERSATION IN SPANISH ON GENERAL TOPICS, EXPRESS OPINIONS, NEEDS, DESCRIBE PEOPLE, THINGS, PLACES, ETC. THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO EVALUATE THE DIFFICULTIES THAT MAKE UP THE LANGUAGE SYSTEM UNDER STUDY EVEN AT THE FORMAL LEVEL AND TO MAKE JUDGMENTS ABOUT THE CRITICAL INTERPRETATION OF DATA AND INFORMATION. IN ADDITION, HE WILL BE ABLE TO ARTICULATE A SIMPLE DISCOURSE ON THE TOPICS STUDIED, EXPRESSING HIMSELF WITH STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL CORRECTNESS. HE/SHE WILL, THEREFORE, BE ABLE TO REPRESENT AND COMMUNICATE RESULTS OF HIS/HER OWN RESEARCH OR PROCESSING WITH CLARITY THROUGH APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE, COMMUNICATING INFORMATION AND IDEAS. FINALLY, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO USE THE TOOLS NECESSARY FOR UNDERSTANDING LINGUISTIC ISSUES, MEMORIZING THE SIGNIFICANT ONES, THUS ACQUIRING THE REFERENCES, TOOLS AND LEARNING ABILITY NEEDED TO ENRICH HIS OR HER LANGUAGE SKILLS, WHICH CAN ALSO BE APPLIED TO OTHER TEACHINGS IN THE COURSE OF STUDY. THUS, HE OR SHE WILL ACQUIRE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY AT THE A2-B1 LEVEL OF THE EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE.

THE TEACHING AIMS TO DEVELOP THE FOUR BASIC SKILLS IN AN INTEGRATED WAY THROUGH THE PRESENTATION OF ELEMENTS OF A PHONETIC, GRAMMATICAL, LEXICAL AND FUNCTIONAL-FUNCTIONAL NATURE. SECTORAL TERMINOLOGY WILL BE INTRODUCED THROUGH THE READING AND ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL, CULTURAL AND POLITICAL ITEMS FROM THE SPANISH PRESS. DURING THE LESSONS, MATERIALS WILL BE PRESENT THAT WILL ALSO DEVELOP PRAGMATIC AND SOCIOCULTURAL KNOWLEDGE. AT THE END OF THE LESSONS THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO SHOW THAT HE HAS ACQUIRED A GENERAL COMPETENCE OF THE SPANISH LANGUAGE SUITABLE FOR THIS LEVEL AND HAS DEVELOPED A GENERAL KNOWLEDGE ON HISPANIC CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION.
THE TOPICS COVERED DURING THE LESSONS ARE: ORTHOGRAPHY AND PRONUNCIATION (2 HOURS); ACCENT RULE (2 HOURS); PLURAL AND FEMALE TRAINING (2 HOURS); SER, TENER, HAY, ESTÁ (N) (2 HOURS); PRESENT OF THE INDICATIVE (2 HOURS); ARTICLES (2 HOURS); QUANTIFIERS (2 HOURS); PREPOSITIONS (2 HOURS); NUMBERS (2 HOURS); PRONOMES (2 HOURS); DEMONSTRATIVE AND POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES AND PRONOMES (2 HOURS); THE PAST OF THE INDICATIVE (6 HOURS); GERUNDIO (2 HOURS); COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE (2 HOURS); INDEFINITE, RELATIVE, INTERROGATIVE AND EXCLAMATIVE (4 HOURS) VERBAL PERIPHRASIS AND FORMS OF OBLIGATION (4 HOURS). THE GRAMMATICAL THEMES WILL BE INTERVALED BY THE READING AND RELEVANT COMMENT OF CULTURAL TOPICS.

Teaching Methods
THERE ARE 34 HOURS OF FRONTAL TEACHING CARRIED OUT IN SPANISH AND 6 HOURS OF EXERCISES.
Verification of learning
THERE ARE TWO TESTS, ONE WRITTEN (LASTING 1 HOUR) AND ONE ORAL (LASTING 15-20 MINUTES). THE WRITTEN TEST IS PREPARATORY TO THE ORAL TEST. THE WRITTEN TEST INCLUDES MULTIPLE CHOICE EXERCISES, COMPLETION AND TRANSLATION, ON GRAMMATICAL AND LEXICAL TOPICS. THE ORAL EXAM CONSISTS IN CARRYING OUT A GENERAL CONVERSATION IN SPANISH AND IN THE DISCUSSION ON GRAMMATICAL AND SOCIO-CULTURAL TOPICS COVERED DURING THE LESSONS. THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THAT HE CAN READ, DESCRIBE PEOPLE AND THINGS, EXPRESS OPINIONS, TASTES, DESIRES, NEEDS, ETC. AND TO KNOW THE ELEMENTS OF CULTURE AND CIVILIZATION BELONGING TO SPANISH SOCIETY.
