Lilla' LIONETTI Curriculum

Current position: Associate professor in Physiology, Department of Chemistry and Biology, University of Salerno

Prof Lionetti obtained her PhD in Physiology at the University of Naples ‘Federico II’ in 1996. She carried out research activities at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge, UK, in 1994-1999. She earned a postdoc position in 1998-1999. She is specialized in Nutrition science at the University of Naples. In 2001 she earned the position of researcher in Physiology at the University of Naples. She has been director of a graduate program in nutrition at the Department of Biology. In 2016, she earned the position of Associate Professor in Physiology at the University of Salerno (Italy).

She has been a teacher in several courses of General Physiology and Nutritional Physiology in Biological degree courses and post-graduated courses.

Current research activities focus on mitochondrial bioenergetics and dynamic behavior in experimental animal models of diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance.

She is author of 54 papers in international scientific journals and of several international and national congress communications.

She directed 4 PhD students and several undergraduate students. She is acting as referee for national funds agency (MIUR) as well as for numerous journals.

She has established a profitable cooperation with several outstanding groups: Dr. M.D. Brand (Cambridge, UK), Dr. A.G. Dulloo (Friburg, Switzerland), dr. Marisol Fernandez Alfonso (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) dr, Isabelle Castan-Laurell (Inserm, Toulouse France), Dr. A. Zorzano (Institute for Research in Biomedicine, IRB Barcelona, Spain).
