Teaching Methods
FRONTAL LECTURES (60 HOURS)
THE FRONTAL LECTURES ENABLE STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF TRADE POLICY AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION, INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTIONS REGULATING TRADE AND STRATEGIC BEHAVIOUR BETWEEN STATES. CURRENT INTERNATIONAL SITUATIONS ARE DISCUSSED AND ANALYSED USING THE TOOLS OF GAME THEORY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE. IN THIS WAY, THE STUDENT WILL DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE ANALYTICAL TOOLS ACQUIRED IN THE LECTURES TO INTERPRET INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC POLICY EVENTS.
Verification of learning
ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAMINATION WITH A GRADE IN THIRTIETHS.
THE EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF TWO PARTS:
1) THE SUBMISSION OF A PAPER (ESSAY/THESIS) ON THE TOPIC OF ANALYSING A CASE/COUNTRY OR AN INTERNATIONAL SITUATION USING THE TOOLS LEARNT IN THE COURSE, TO BE SUBMITTED BEFORE THE ORAL EXAMINATION.
2) ORAL EXAMINATION CONSISTING OF A DISCUSSION OF THE PRESENTATION AND THE MAIN TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE.
THE FINAL MARK IS THE AVERAGE OF THE MARKS AWARDED IN THE INDIVIDUAL TESTS.
THE PURPOSE OF THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION IS TO DETERMINE, IN A TRANSPARENT AND OBJECTIVE MANNER, THE EXTENT TO WHICH THE STUDENT HAS UNDERSTOOD THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENT OF THE PROGRAMME AND IS ABLE TO APPLY THE THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED. THE ORAL EXAMINATION CONSISTS OF A CONVERSATION WITH QUESTIONS AND A DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENTS INDICATED IN THE PROGRAMME IN ORDER TO DETERMINE NOT ONLY THE STUDENT'S LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION, BUT ALSO THE ABILITY TO EXPLAIN THE TOPICS USING THE APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY.
THE MAXIMUM MARK (30/30) IS ACHIEVED ONLY ON CONDITION THAT THE STUDENT HAS DEMONSTRATED THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND POSSESSION OF ADEQUATE ANALYTICAL TOOLS TO BEST ARGUE AND UNDERSTAND THE TOPICS COVERED. OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE REQUIRES ACHIEVING THE MAXIMUM SCORE IN ALL TESTS AND DEMONSTRATING EXCELLENT REASONING AND LINKING OF DIFFERENT TOPICS IN INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS AND POLITICS.
