Objectives
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
THIS COURSE WILL PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE ON PATHOGENETIC MECHANISMS UNDERLYING THE MAIN NEOPLASTIC AND NON-NEOPLASTIC HEMOPATHIES (INCLUDING COAGULATION DISORDERS), ENDOCRINOLOGICAL, CARDIOLOGIC, AND PNEUMOLOGICAL DISORDERS, AS WELL AS KNOWLEDGE ON THE PRINCIPLES OF SPECIALIST NURSING.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY
KNOW AND BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE THE PRINCIPAL ENDOCRINOLOGICAL, HEMATOLOGICAL, CARDIOLOGIC, AND PNEUMOLOGICAL DISORDERS, AS WELL AS KNOWLEDGE ON THE PRINCIPLES OF SPECIALIST NURSING.
DEEPEN KNOWLEDGE ON DIAGNOSIS, PROGNOSIS AND THERAPY OF THE MAIN ENDOCRINOLOGICAL, HEMATOLOGICAL, CARDIOLOGICAL AND PNEUMOLOGICAL PATHOLOGIES.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
KNOW AND BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF THE PRINCIPAL ENDOCRINOLOGICAL, HEMATOLOGICAL, CARDIOLOGIC, AND PNEUMOLOGICAL DISORDERS.
KNOW DIAGNOSTIC-THERAPEUTIC-CARE PROCESS OF THE PRINCIPAL ENDOCRINOLOGICAL, HEMATOLOGICAL, CARDIOLOGIC, AND PNEUMOLOGICAL DISORDERS.

INDEPENDENCE OF JUDGMENT
THE STUDENT MUST BE ABLE TO EVALUATE AND DEAL WITH THE INDIVIDUAL'S STATE OF HEALTH FROM A PREVENTIVE, DIAGNOSTIC, THERAPEUTIC AND REHABILITATIVE POINT OF VIEW AND INTEGRATE THIS KNOWLEDGE INTO A UNITARY VISION OF PATIENT.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
KNOW THE TECHNIQUES OF NURSE-PATIENT COMMUNICATION.

ABILITY TO LEARN
THE STUDENT MUST HAVE DEVELOPED THOSE LEARNING SKILLS THAT ALLOW TO CONTINUE STUDYING MOSTLY IN A SELF-DIRECTED OR AUTONOMOUS WAY, AND TO SEARCH INTO THE MAIN INTERNATIONAL DATABASES FOR THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION ON DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF STUDIED DISORDERS.
Prerequisites
THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ALREADY ACQUIRED, THROUGH PREVIOUS COURSES, KNOWLEDGE ON GENERAL MECHANISMS OF PRINCIPAL ENDOCRINOLOGICAL, HEMATOLOGICAL, CARDIOLOGIC, AND PNEUMOLOGICAL DISORDERS. FURTHERMORE, THE STUDENT MUST KNOW THE PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF THE MAIN COAGULATION SYNDROMES AND DISORDERS, AS WELL AS MECHANISMS OF ACTION OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CLASSES OF DRUGS.
Contents
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO 5 MODULES: NURSING SCIENCES (36 HOURS); CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM DISEASES (12 HOURS); ENDOCRINOLOGY (12 HOURS); BLOOD DISEASES (12 HOURS); RESPIRATORY SYSTEM DISEASES (12 HOURS).

HEMATOLOGY PROGRAM
HEMOPOIESIS, BLOOD COUNTS, LEUKEMIAS, BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS, LYMPHOMAS, MYELOMA AND BONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION. MANAGEMENT OF THE EXIT SITE AND INFUSION LINES. ANTIBLASTIC THERAPY.

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO LECTURES (84 HOURS) AND EXERCISES. THE LECTURES WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO ACQUIRE BASIC KNOWLEDGE RELATED TO THE PATHOGENESIS, DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF THE MAIN CARDIOVASCULAR, PNEUMOLOGICAL, ENDOCRINOLOGICAL AND HEMATOLOGICAL DISEASES, AS WELL AS ACQUIRING THE MAIN KNOWLEDGE FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT OF SUCH PATHOLOGIES. THE EXERCISES WILL ALLOW THE STUDENT TO DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED IN LESSONS IN NURSING PRACTICE.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL TEST. IN THE WRITTEN TEST THE STUDENT WILL BE ASKED 15-30 MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS, OR TO SOLVING NURSING PROBLEMS. IN THE ORAL EXAM, THE STUDENT WILL BE EXAMINED ON THE TOPICS EXPLAINED IN LESSON.
