STUDENTS WILL LEARN HOW TO EVALUATE, DIAGNOSE AND TREAT THE MOST COMMONLY OBSERVED PSYCHIATRIC, NEUROLOGICAL AND NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES. SPECIFICALLY THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ACQUIRE: •KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN CLINICAL PICTURES OF NEUROLOGICAL, PSYCHIATRIC OR NEUROSURGICAL INTEREST AND UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR EVOLUTION, SO AS TO ENABLE THE ELABORATION AND APPLICATION OF ORIGINAL IDEAS ALSO IN A RESEARCH CONTEXT; •KNOWLEDGE OF THE POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES ON FUNCTIONAL ABILITIES OF MAJOR PSYCHIATRIC, NEUROLOGICAL OR NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES AND UNDERSTANDING OF THEIR LONG-TERM OUTCOME; •ABILITY TO LEARN, UNDERSTAND AND APPLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO THE FORMULATION OF DIAGNOSTIC HYPOTHESES AND THERAPEUTIC DESIGNS; •ABILITY TO APPLY ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING PHARMACOLOGICAL, NEUROSURGICAL, OR REHABILITATIVE TREATMENTS FOR SPECIFIC DISEASES •ABILITY TO INTEGRATE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN ORDER TO MAKE CLINICAL JUDGMENTS INDEPENDENTLY, INCLUDING REFLECTION ON THE SOCIAL AND ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE APPLICATION OF THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND JUDGMENTS; •ABILITY TO CLEARLY AND UNAMBIGUOUSLY COMMUNICATE THEIR CONCLUSIONS, AS WELL AS THE KNOWLEDGE AND RATIONALE BEHIND THEM, TO SPECIALIST AND NONSPECIALIST INTERLOCUTORS; •LEARNING SKILLS SUCH THAT THEY CAN CONTINUE THEIR STUDY INDEPENDENTLY. THERAPEUTICS OF PSYCHIATRIC, NEUROLOGICAL AND NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES. •GENERIC KNOWLEDGE OF CULTURAL, HISTORICAL, SCIENTIFIC AND NORMATIVE EVOLUTION OF PSYCHIATRIC ASSISTANCE, •EXHAUSTIVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE EVIDENCE-BASED NEURO-PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY •GENERIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN NEUROSURGICAL TECHNIQUES; •GENERIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN NEUROIMAGING METHODS AND NEUROIMAGING SEMIOLOGY OF THE MAIN PSYCHIATRIC, NEUROLOGICAL AND NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES. AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: •IDENTIFY THE MAIN PSYCHIATRIC, NEUROLOGICAL AND NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES AND TO UNDERSTAND THEIR EVOLUTION; •IDENTIFY THE MAIN CONSEQUENCES OF PSYCHIATRIC, NEUROLOGICAL AND NEUROSURGICAL DISEASES ON THE INDIVIDUAL’S FUNCTIONAL ABILITIES AND THEIR LONG-TERM OUCTCOMES; AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO: •APPLY THE LEARNED KNOWLEDGE IN ORDER TO FORMULATE DIAGNOSIS AND THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMS; APPLY THE LEARNED KNOWLEDGE IN ORDER TO CHOOSE THE MOST APPROPRIATE PHARMACOLOGIC, NEUROSURGICAL OR REHABILITATION TREATMENTS |

THE EXAM CONSISTS OF A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL INTERVIEW. THE WRITTEN TEST IS COMPOSED OF 30 QUESTIONS REGARDING THE TOPICS TREATED OVER THE LESSONS. FOR EACH EXACT RESPONSE, A SCORE OF 1 IS ALLOCATED; FOR NO RESPONSE OR WRONG RESPONSE A SCORE OF 0 IS ALLOCATED. A TOTAL SCORE OF AT LEAT 18 IS MANDATORY TO ADMITTED TO THE ORAL INTERVIEW. THE ORAL INTERVIEW AIMS TO VERIFY THE STUDENT’S LEVEL OF THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE AND HIS ABILITIES TO DESCRIBE IT. THE EVALUATION TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE EXACTNESS OF THE STUDENT’S RESPONSES AND, ESPECIALLY, HIS ABILITY TO DEFINE A DIAGNOSIS AND A THE EXAM GRADE IS EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS. COLLEGIAL EVALUATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE EXAM COMMISSION. |
