Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS AT ILLUSTRATING THE ETIOPATOGENETIC MECHANISMS OF DISEASES AND THE MAIN PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL MECHANISMS OF ORGANS AND SYSTEM. STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE NECESSARY TO CRITICALLY EVALUATE DIAGNOSTIC METHODOLOGIES AND THE MEANING OF CLINICAL LABORATORY RESULTS OBTAINED IN DIFFERENT PATHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING -
THE TEACHING AIMS TO ENABLE STUDENTS TO ACQUIRE:
- THE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DISEASE THROUGH THE DEFINITION OF THE NATURE OF THE ETIOLOGICAL AGENTS THAT CAN ATTACK THE ORGANISM AND THE MECHANISMS OF THEIR PATHOGENIC ACTION.
- UNDERSTANDING ORGAN AND TISSUE DAMAGE BY PLACING THEM IN THE CORRECT PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CONTEXT, DISCUSSING AND MAKING CORRELATIONS BETWEEN THEM.
- THE ABILITY TO APPROPRIATELY INTERPRET LABORATORY AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTS IN ORDER TO DIFFERENTIATE PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL PICTURES.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING -
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- APPLY THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE TO THE MOLECULAR, ORGAN AND TISSUE FIELDS, PLACING THEM IN THE CORRECT PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CONTEXT
- PRACTICALLY APPLY THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE TO DIAGNOSTIC AND LABORATORY TESTS.

AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT –
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- EVALUATE INDEPENDENTLY AND CRITICALLY ANY DIFFERENT OPINIONS PRESENT IN CERTAIN TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE.
- RECOGNIZE THE FUNDAMENTAL ROLE OF THE CORRECT THEORY OF THE SUBJECT IN CLINICAL PRACTICE AND IN THE FUTURE HEALTHCARE PROFESSION.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS –
THE COURSE WILL PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE TOOLS TO:
- KNOW HOW TO PRESENT THE TOPICS ORALLY IN AN ORGANIZED WAY AND WITH SEMANTIC APPROPRIATENESS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TOPIC OF THE DISCUSSION
- KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR PEERS IN A CRITICAL MANNER ON THE TOPICS STUDIED AND TO SUPPORT INTERDISCIPLINARY ARGUMENTS
- RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANCE AND RANGE OF POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS OF THE SKILLS ACQUIRED IN A FUTURE HEALTHCARE CAREER.

LEARNING ABILITY -
THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED AND THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT ACHIEVED WILL MAKE THE STUDENT ABLE TO INDEPENDENTLY USE TRADITIONAL AND IT BIBLIOGRAPHIC SOURCES IN ORDER TO INTERROGATE THE DATA CONTAINED THEREIN TO INCREASE THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS THROUGH SPECIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN THE BIOMEDICAL FIELD.
Prerequisites
THE STUDENT MUST ACQUIRE THE INFORMATION AND CONCEPTS COVERED IN THE TEACHING OF "MORPHOLOGICAL AND FUNCTIONAL BASES OF THE HUMAN BODY"
Contents
THE COURSE AIMS AT GENERATING THE FOLLOWING OUTCOMES:

- GENERAL ACQUISITION OF THE COURSE MAIN TOPICS; ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE MAIN PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DISEASE PROCESS, THE DEFINITION OF THE VARIOUS ETIOLOGICAL AGENTS THAT CAN CAUSE DISEASE AND THE ENSUING PATHOGICAL DAMAGE.
- UNDERSTANDING ORGAN AND TISSUE DAMAGE BY RECOGNITION OF THE CORRECT PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CONTEXT.
- THE ABILITY TO APPROPRIATELY INTERPRET LABORATORY AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTS IN ORDER TO DIFFERENTIATE PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL PICTURES.

AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:

- TO APPLY THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE TO MOLECULAR, ORGAN AND TISSUE-RELATED BIOLOGICAL OUTCOMES, UNDERSTANDING THEIR CORRECT PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CONTEXT.
- TO APPLY THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE TO IMPLEMENTATION OF DIAGNOSTIC AND LABORATORY TESTS.
- TO CRITICALLY EVALUATE THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE IN THEIR DIVERSE APPLICATIONS.
- TO RECOGNIZE THE FUNDAMENTAL ROLE OF THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE AND ITS CONSTANT UPDATE IN CLINICAL PRACTICE AND IN THE FUTURE HEALTH PROFESSION.
- PRESENT THE TOPICS ORALLY IN AN ORGANIZED WAY AND WITH SEMANTIC APPROPRIATENESS AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE TOPIC OF THE DISCUSSION.
- COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR PEERS IN A CRITICAL MANNER OF THE TOPICS STUDIED AND SUPPORT INTERDISCIPLINARY ARGUMENTS.
