Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE MAIN ELEMENTS OF KNOWLEDGE AND METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS FOR THE STUDY OF WORKS OF ART OF THE MODERN AGE IN THE ITALIAN AND EUROPEAN AREA. THE STYLISTIC ANALYSIS OF THE WORKS WILL BE SUPPORTED BY THE ICONOGRAPHIC INVESTIGATION/RESEARCH, THE RE-READING OF CONTEMPORARY ART LITERATURE AND THE REVISION OF DOCUMENTARY SOURCES. PARTICULARLY SIGNIFICANT ARE THE CONTEXTS FOR THE HISTORY OF ART IN ITALY WHICH WILL BE EXAMINED, AS WELL AS THE WIDESPREAD OF ARTISTIC PHENOMENA BETWEEN THE CENTER, THE SUBURBS AND TOWARDS THE MAIN EUROPEAN COURTS.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE STUDENT WITH:
- ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE OF ARTISTIC PRODUCTION IN THE MODERN AGE IN ITALY AND EUROPE
- TOOLS USED FOR THE INVESTIGATION/RESEARCH OF HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC CONTEXTS
- ELEMENTS OF ICONOGRAPHY AND ICONOLOGY
- METHODOLOGY OF ANALYSIS OF SOURCES AND DOCUMENTS

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- IDENTIFY THE MOST SIGNIFICANT WORKS OF ART AND THE ICONOGRAPHIC THEME WHICH IS REPRESENTED
- IDENTIFY THE SPECIFIC LANGUAGE OF THE MAIN ARTISTS WHO WERE ACTIVE IN ITALY AND EUROPE THROUGH THE ANALYSIS OF THE ARTISTIC ARTIFACT
- CONTEXTUALIZE THE WORK OF ART BOTH FROM A CHRONOLOGICAL POINT OF VIEW AND IN RELATION TO THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA TO WHICH IT BELONGS
- REBUILD CULTURALLY HOMOGENEOUS PRODUCTIVE CONTEXTS

MAKING JUDGEMENTS
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- EVALUATE AN ARTISTIC ARTIFACT AND PROPOSE NEW INVESTIGATION/RESEARCH APPROACHES

- DEVELOP CRITICAL CONCEPTS THROUGH SPECIFIC LANGUAGE AND TERMINOLOGY

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES LECTURES IN THE CLASSROOM WITH POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS.
THE LESSONS WILL BE INTEGRATED WITH THE PLANNING OF VIRTUAL TOURS AT NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MUSEUMS AS WELL AS GUIDED VISITS TO THE MOST INTERESTING PLACES IN THE AREA.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM INCLUDES THE PERFORMANCE OF AN EXAMINATION TEST AND AN ORAL TEST THAT WILL EVALUATE THE STUDENT'S KNOWLEDGE, CLARITY OF PRESENTATION AND INDIVIDUAL REVIEW. THROUGH THE ANALYSIS OF ARTISTIC ARTIFACTS, THE ABILITY TO ORGANIZE AN ARTICULATED AND RELEVANT DISCOURSE WITH RESPECT TO THE PROPOSED TOPICS WILL BE CONSIDERED, AS WELL AS THE CORRECT READING OF THE WORK OF ART, INSERTED IN THE RIGHT HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL CONTEXT.
