Carmine VECCHIONE Curriculum

Carmine Vecchione graduated in Medicine in 1994 and specialized in Cardiology in 1999 in University of Naples, Federico II . He has been a Researcher in Neuromed Institute since 1995, working on vascular pathophysiology, and a Medical doctor at the same Institute since 1999. By 2007 until 2011, he was Head of the Stroke Unit of Neuromed Institute. Moreover, he is head of Vascular Physiology Laboratory in the same Institute. He is a lecturer for Sapienza University of Rome. He has had also research experiences in foreign laboratories: in 1998 he attended the PET Cardiology Group directed by Prof. Paolo Camici at the Medical Research Council of the Hammersmith Hospital in London; in 2001 he attended the Cardiovascular Physiology laboratory directed by prof. Rudi Bussè at the Goethe University in Frankfurt where he performed studies on molecular mechanisms involved in vascular damage. He has the requisite qualifications of Associate Professor from February 2011 and since December 2011 he works in the University of Medicine in Salerno. He has received research prize from the Italian Society of Internal Medicine and the Italian Society of Hypertension. He is member of the Italian Society of Cardiology and Italian Society of Hypertension. He has been Scientific Manager for Projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Health. He has participated in numerous national and international conferences as a speaker and moderator. He is author of more than 70 papers on vascular physiopathology in cardio and cerebrovascular diseases. He is Professor and Coordinator of the Degree Courses of Health Professions at the University of Salerno and Director of the Inter-Departmental program of Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases.
