Objectives
THE COURSE PROVIDES THE BASICS OF GENERAL PATHOLOGY, CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY, PHYSIOPATHOLOGY, AND DIETETIC SCIENCE WITH THE AIM OF GIVING STUDENTS THE NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE TO UNDERSTAND THE MECHANISMS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MAIN ALTERATIONS OF THE HOMEOSTATIC SYSTEMS OF THE ORGANISM, FIRST, AND THE FUNCTIONAL CONSEQUENCES ON THE ORGANS AND SYSTEMS THEN, WITH PARTICULAR REGARD, ON THE ONE HAND, TO THE PHENOMENA OF A GENERAL NATURE AND ON THE OTHER HAND TO THE ORGAN- OR TISSUE-SPECIFIC PHENOMENA AND/OR INFECTIVE. IN ADDITION, THE BASIC NOTIONS INHERENT TO THE ROLE OF THE NURSE IN NUTRITIONAL SCREENING AND IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE PATIENT UNDERGOING ARTIFICIAL NUTRITION WILL BE PROVIDED.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND
- KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL MECHANISMS THAT DETERMINE THE DISEASE STATUS.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING SKILLS APPLIED
- ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO UNDERSTAND THE CLINICAL PICTURE OF DISEASES.
- ABILITY TO CARRY OUT NUTRITIONAL SCREENING TESTS IN AUTONOMY.
-ABILITY TO COLLABORATE WITH THE MEDICAL TEAM IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF ARTIFICIAL NUTRITION.
- AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO ACQUIRE A SCIENTIFIC MENTALITY CAPABLE OF EVALUATING WITH AVAILABLE DATA THE BEST PROCEDURES TO BE APPLIED IN THE NURSING FIELD.
WITH THE PHARMACOLOGY MODULE, THE COURSE AIMS AT THE ACQUISITION OF THE NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE TO UNDERSTAND: - THE DYNAMICITY AND MULTIDISCIPLINARITY OF THE CARE PATHS; - THE CENTRALITY OF THE PERSON AND HIS HEALTH NEEDS; - THE CONCEPT OF INNOVATIVE-ALTERNATIVE FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF ASSISTANCE IN NURSING AND MIDWIFT.

PHARMACOLOGY MODULE (1CFU - 12H)
- STEWARDSHIP AND ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE
- RESEARCH METHODOLOGY IN THE BIOMEDICAL PHARMACOLOGICAL FIELD
- GENERAL CONCEPTS AT THE BASIS OF THE INTERACTION BETWEEN DRUGS
- SPECIFIC EXAMPLES OF PHARMACOLOGICAL INTERACTIONS.
- CUSTOMIZATION OF THE PHARMACOLOGICAL THERAPY

CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY MODULE (1CFU = 12H)
INTEGRATE THE ESSENTIAL NOTIONS REGARDING THE BASIC CHARACTERISTICS OF MICROORGANISMS, DEEPENING THE PATHOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK CAUSED BY THE MAIN INFECTIOUS AGENTS, THE PROCEDURES USED FOR THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE INFECTIONS CAUSED BY THEM. THE TOPICS ARE TREATED WITH A VIEW OF THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE NURSE IN THE CARE OF THE PATIENT AND HIS CENTRAL ROLE IN THE HEALTHCARE TEAM FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF DISEASES CAUSED BY AN INFECTIOUS AGENT.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE IS CARRIED OUT THROUGH LECTURES. THE COURSE INCLUDES 24 HOURS OF LECTURES FOR THE GENERAL PATHOLOGY MODULE, 12 HOURS FOR THE DIETETIC SCIENCE MODULE THAT WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE USE OF VIDEO PROJECTION SYSTEMS FOR VIEWING POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS. THE LESSONS WILL INTRODUCE SUBJECTS WITH GRADUAL COMPLEXITY ADEQUATELY TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TRAINING PATH AND WILL BE SUPPORTED BY TEACHING METHODOLOGIES OF DIFFERENT NATURE BUT ALWAYS PROVIDING THE STUDENT IN THE FOREGROUND, WHO WILL BE ACTIVELY INVOLVED BY INTERVENING WITH PROPOSALS AND QUESTIONS.
ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY. TO TAKE THE FINAL EXAM, THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ATTENDED AT LEAST 75% OF THE TEACHING HOURS.
Verification of learning
THE ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING BY THE STUDENT IS CARRIED OUT THROUGH AN ORAL EXAMINATION THAT WILL FOCUS ON THE TOPICS OF THE MODULES THAT MAKE UP THE COURSE. TO PASS THE EXAM, THE ORAL VERIFICATION OF ALL THREE MODULES IS REQUIRED. IN CASE OF A NEGATIVE RESULT, THE STUDENT CAN STILL TAKE THE EXAM AGAIN DURING THE SUBSEQUENT APPEALS. THE FINAL EVALUATION WILL TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE OUTCOME OF THE ORAL EXAMINATION AND WILL THEREFORE PROVIDE A MARK OUT OF THIRTY.
