THE TEACHING AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF LOGICAL REASONING FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE IDENTIFIED SKILL DEFICITS IN THIS SUBJECT. - IDENTIFY APPROPRIATE SOLUTIONS TO LOGICAL REASONING QUESTIONS.

Contents
TEACHING PROVIDES SOME BASIC THEORETICAL ELEMENTS OF LOGICAL REASONING, DIFFERENTIATING BETWEEN INDUCTIVE, DEDUCTIVE AND CRITICAL REASONING (4 HOURS) AND THEN FOCUSES ON EXERCISES ON LOGICAL REASONING (11 HOURS)
- THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF LOGICAL REASONING, DIFFERENTIATING BETWEEN INDUCTIVE, DEDUCTIVE AND CRITICAL REASONING (4 HOURS)
- EXERCISES (11 HOURS)
Teaching Methods
LECTURES, INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP EXERCISES, DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
Verification of learning
THE EXAMINATION IS A WRITTEN TEST. THE EXAM CONSISTS OF SOLVING LOGICAL REASONING PROBLEMS OF DIFFERENT TYPES (INDUCTIVE, DEDUCTIVE AND CRITICAL) ON THE BASIS OF EXERCISES CARRIED OUT IN CLASS (NUMERICAL TESTS, SET THEORY, PROPOSITIONS).
THE TEST IS SUCCESSFUL IF THE STUDENTS SHOW A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF LOGICAL REASONING AND COMPLETE AT LEAST HALF OF THE EXERCISES.
THE ASSESSMENT CONCENTRATES ON THE STUDENT'S CAPABILITY TO AUTOMATICALLY APPLY APPROPRIATE LOGICAL REASONING TO FIND THE LOGICAL SOLUTION(S) TO REASONINGS OF RELATIVE COMPLEXITY.
Texts
THE TEACHING USES MAINLY LOGIC EXERCISES AND TESTS; THE FOLLOWING TEXTBOOK IS USED AS A REFERENCE:
BUTTERWORTH, JOHN, AND GEOFF THWAITES. 2014. LA GUIDA CAMBRIDGE AL RAGIONAMENTO LOGICO: PENSIERO CRITICO E PROBLEM SOLVING, NAPOLI, SES.
