Objectives
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF TWO MODULES: THE FIRST 30-HOUR-MODULE IS COMMON TO ALL CURRICULA WHEREAS THE SECOND 15-HOUR MODULE IS SPECIFIC TO THE STUDENTS’ SINGLE CURRICULUM. THE COURSE AIMS AT DEEPENING
- OF THE COMPLEX STRUCTURES OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE
- THE METHODOLOGICAL AND METALINGUISTIC SKILLS NECESSARY FOR TEACHING/LEARNING FRENCH;
- OF THE MACRO- AND MICRO-LINGUISTIC ASPECTS OF SPECIALIST TERMINOLOGIES.

IN THE LITERATURES AND LITERARY TRANSLATION CURRICULUM, TEACHING AIMS TO DEEPEN LINGUISTIC REFLECTION ON THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL PROBLEMS CONCERNING DIFFERENT TYPES OF LITERARY AND EDITORIAL TRANSLATION.
IN THE LINGUISTICS AND LANGUAGE DIDACTICS CURRICULUM, THE AIM IS TO PERFECT METHODOLOGICAL AND METALINGUISTIC SKILLS AIMED AT FACILITATING THE TEACHING/LEARNING OF FRENCH.
IN THE LANGUAGES FOR TERRITORIAL RESOURCES AND ECONOMIES CURRICULUM, THE COURSE AIMS, THROUGH AN IN-DEPTH STUDY OF SPECIALIST TERMINOLOGIES, TO ACHIEVE PRACTICAL-UTILITARIAN OBJECTIVES SUITED TO THE TRANSLATION REQUIREMENTS OF THE TERRITORY AND NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS.
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION SKILLS
THE STUDENT
- WILL CONSOLIDATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE BY REACHING A FULL C1 LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES;
- WILL LEARN TO CARRY OUT METALINGUISTIC REFLECTION ON TRANSLATION STRATEGIES;
- WILL DEVELOP TECHNIQUES FOR THE TRANSLATION AND LINGUISTIC-TEXTUAL ANALYSIS OF COMPLEX TEXTS.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

- MASTER THE FRENCH LANGUAGE IN VARIOUS PROFESSIONAL CONTEXTS;

- PRODUCE A LINGUISTIC INTERPRETATION OF LITERARY AND SPECIALISED TEXTS;
- DEEPEN THE STUDY OF COMPLEX LINGUISTIC PHENOMENA ALSO BY USING THE TOOLS PROVIDED BY NEW COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES;
- APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND TERMINOLOGY USEFUL TO THE LANGUAGE OF SCIENCE DISSEMINATION THAT WILL ENABLE THEM TO MOVE APPROPRIATELY FROM EDUCATION TO THE WORLD OF WORK.

- AUTONOMOUSLY EVALUATE LINGUISTIC PROCESSES AND HOMOLOGICAL TRANSPOSITION OF LANGUAGES IN COMPARISON;
- FORMULATE AUTONOMOUS JUDGEMENTS AND POINTS OF VIEW ON ISSUES RELATING TO SPECIALISED TRANSLATION AND THEIR THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL STUDY AND APPLICATION IN SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL CONTEXTS;
- PRODUCE AUTONOMY AND STRONG CRITICAL ANALYSIS SKILLS ON COMPLEX TOPICS OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS;
- PRODUCE AUTONOMY IN IDENTIFYING AND ASSESSING PROBLEMS RELATING TO MICRO-LANGUAGES AND RESPECTIVE TRANSLATION ISSUES, ALSO IN RELATION TO THE NEEDS OF THE TERRITORY.

MODULE 30 HOURS COMMON TO BOTH CURRICULA:
STUDENTS' LINGUISTIC AND SOCIOLINGUISTIC, PRAGMATIC AND TEXTUAL KNOWLEDGE WILL BE CONSOLIDATED AND EXPANDED THROUGH THE LINGUISTIC, RHETORICAL AND STYLISTIC ANALYSIS OF WRITTEN AND ORAL TEXTS, WITH THE AIM OF EMPHASISING THE INTIMATE CONNECTION BETWEEN SYNTACTIC, SEMANTIC AND PRAGMATIC FACTORS. CENTRAL ISSUES OF TRANSLATION THEORY AND PRACTICE WILL BE ADDRESSED THROUGH THE COMPARATIVE-CONTRASTIVE COMPARISON OF CODES IN CONTACT THROUGH THE TRANSLATION OF TEXTS OF VARIOUS TYPES AND SPECIALISED INTEREST. POSSIBLE TRANSLATIONS OF A TEXT WILL BE COMPARED, CHECKING THE ANALYSIS CRITERIA ADOPTED AND THE CONSISTENCY OF THE TRANSLATION CHOICES MADE. IN VIEW OF THE IMPORTANCE THAT NEW TECHNOLOGIES HAVE ASSUMED TODAY AND, IN PARTICULAR, THE WEIGHT THAT THEY HAVE IN THE TRANSLATOR'S PROFESSION, THE COURSE ALSO AIMS TO EFFECTIVELY DEVELOP THE SKILLS REQUIRED TO USE IT AIDS AND THE APTITUDE FOR GROUP WORK ON THE WEB.

15-HOUR + 15-HOUR SPECIALISED MODULES:
THE SPECIALISED COURSES FOR THE TWO CURRICULA AIM TO PROVIDE THE CONCEPTUAL, METHODOLOGICAL, THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TOOLS TO REFINE AND ENHANCE METALINGUISTIC SKILLS WITH THE AID OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES. UNDERPINNING THIS APPROACH APPLIED TO THE STUDY OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE IS A FOCUS ON THE TRAINING OF THE NEW SKILLS REQUIRED IN THE MULTILINGUAL AND MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATION PROFESSIONS (TRANSLATOR, LEXICOGRAPHER, TERMINOLOGIST, COMPUTATIONAL LINGUIST, EDITOR, ETC.), AS WELL AS IN PUBLISHING AND TEACHING.
SPECIFICALLY, THE COURSE FOCUSES ON THE LINGUISTIC AND TRANSLATION ISSUES OF THE LITERARY TEXT, AS WELL AS PEDAGOGICAL TRANSLATION AND THE TECHNOLOGIES AND METHODOLOGIES OF TEACHING FRENCH TO ITALIAN-SPEAKING LEARNERS.
AMPLE SPACE IS RESERVED FOR THE PRACTICES OF MACHINE TRANSLATION AND POST-EDITING, CONDUCTED ON SIGNIFICANT TEXTS FROM FRANCOPHONE LITERATURES (MAGHREB, SUB-SAHARAN AFRICAN, CANADIAN AND FRENCH ANTILLEAN LITERATURES).

AT THE END OF THE COURSE, ATTENDING AND NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SIT AN EXAM THAT INCLUDES A PREPARATORY WRITTEN TEST, THE PASSING OF WHICH IS A PREREQUISITE FOR ADMISSION TO THE ORAL EXAM. THE WRITTEN TEST, LASTING 6 HOURS, WILL FOCUS ON THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE OF THE LECTURES, BASED ON THE CONTENTS OF THE TEXTBOOKS ADOPTED. THE STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO PASS
