Objectives
TO POSSESS A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF MEDIEVAL ART AND FULL AWARENESS OF THE PROBLEMS OF PERIODIZATION AND OF THE MOST IMPORTANT HISTORIOGRAPHICAL ISSUES. TO ACHIEVE SOME PRACTICE IN THE EXERCISE OF READING AND RECONSTRUCTING ACCURATELY HISTORICAL AND ARTISTIC ARTIFACTS.

THE COURSE AIMS TO OUTLINE THE MAIN FEATURES OF THE HISTORY OF MEDIEVAL ART, FROM THE EARLY CHRISTIAN PERIOD TO INTERNATIONAL GOTHIC COURTS, AND TO ADDRESS SOME GENERAL PROBLEMS OF METHOD AND PERIODIZATION. SOME OF THE MOST REPRESENTATIVE WORKS OF DIFFERENT PERIODS AND CULTURES WILL BE ANALYZED, IN ORDER TO INTEGRATE KNOWLEDGE ALREADY ACQUIRED BY STUDENTS IN HIGH SCHOOLS.
