THE PURPOSE OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE THE BASIC CONCEPTS RELATED TO INNOVATIVE MATERIALS, SUCH AS ADVANCED COMPOSITE MATERIALS, AND THE INHERENT MANUFACTURING PROCESSES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING. AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT KNOWS: -THE COMPOSITION AND THE PHYSICAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ADVANCED COMPOSITES MATERIALS, WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE FIBER REINFORCED THERMOSETS; -THE PROPERTIES AND THE PHYSICAL BEHAVIORS OF THE THERMOSETTING POLYMERS DURING THE POLYMERIZATION AND THE MAIN TECHNIQUES TO MONITOR AND MEASURE THE CURE REACTION; -THE MANUFACTURING PROCESSES TO PRODUCE STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS IN ADVANCED COMPOSITE MATERIALS. APPLIED KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT IS ABLE TO: -SELECT AND COMBINE THE FUNDAMENTAL CONSTITUENTS (FIBROUS REINFORCEMENT AND POLYMERIC MATRIX) OF AN ADVANCED COMPOSITE MATERIAL; -SELECT THE BEST MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY TO PRODUCE MECHANICAL PART IN ADVANCED COMPOSITE MATERIAL; -PLAN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESSES AND THE PRODUCT PROCESSING CYCLE IN A RATIONAL AND ECONOMIC WAY. AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT BEING ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ADVANCED MATERIALS AND PROCESSING TECHNOLOGIES TO MANUFACTURE ELEMENTS IN THERMOSETTING MATRIX COMPOSITE. COMMUNICATION SKILLS BEING ABLE TO DESCRIBE, IN WRITTEN FORM, IN A CLEAR AND CONCISE WAY AND ORALLY PRESENT THE OBJECTIVES USING TECHNICAL-SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE, THE PROPERTIES AND PROCESSING TECHNOLOGIES OF INNOVATIVE MATERIALS AND THE RELATIVE PROCESSING TECHNOLOGIES. LEARNING SKILLS BEING ABLE TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED IN CONTEXTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE, AND TO DEEPEN THE TOPICS COVERED USING MATERIALS OTHER THAN THOSE PROPOSED. |
Prerequisites | |

THE COURSE IS STRUCTURED IN THEORETICAL LESSONS AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES INTEGRATED WITH LABORATORY VISITS AND PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATIONS OF FIBER REINFORCED COMPOSITE MATERIALS. THE THEORETICAL LESSONS SHOW FUNDAMENTAL FEATURES OF THE ADVANCED COMPOSITE MATERIALS AND THE MAIN CONSTITUENTS TYPICALLY EMPLOYED TO PRODUCE THEM, AS WELL AS THE MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ELEMENTS IN COMPOSITE MATERIAL. THE EXERCISES ARE AIMED AT THE DEFINITION OF PROCESS PARAMETERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF COMPONENTS IN COMPOSITE MATERIAL. THE EXECUTION OF THE EXERCISES IS PERFORMED BY THE TEACHER INVOLVING EVENTUALLY ANY OR MORE STUDENTS IN THE RESOLUTION. THE DEMONSTRATIONS IN THE LABORATORY ARE AIMED AT PROVIDING A PRACTICAL REVIEW OF THE THEORETICAL NOTIONS EXPLORED IN THE THEORETICAL LESSONS. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
THE EVALUATION OF THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES WILL TAKE PLACE BY AN ORAL INTERVIEW WHERE THE DEGREE OF KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED AND THE ABILITY OF EXPOSURE OF THE DISCUSSED TOPICS WILL BE ASSESSED. THE TOTAL ASSESSMENT IS EXPRESSED IN THIRTYTHS. AT THE ORAL TEST, THE PRESENTATION OF AN ELABORATE DEVELOPED DURING THE COURSE IS ALSO REQUIRED, DEEPENING ON SPECIFIC THEMES OF THE COURSE. THE EVALUATION OF THE TESTS TAKES INTO ACCOUNT THE ABILITY TO IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE WORKING STRATEGIES TO PRODUCE COMPOSITE MATERIALS, THE ABILITY TO CLEARLY AND CONCISELY EXPOSE THE OBJECTIVES, THE PROCEDURE AND THE RESULTS OF THE PROCESSING CARRIED OUT, AS WELL AS THE ABILITY TO DEEPEN THE TOPICS COVERED USING MATERIALS OTHER THAN THOSE PROPOSED. THE MINIMUM ASSESSMENT LEVEL (18/30) IS ATTRIBUTED WHEREAS THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A REDUCED UNDERSTANDING OF THE FIBER-REINFORCED POLYMER PRODUCTION PROCESSES, HAS A POOR DISPLAY CAPACITY AND LIMITED AUTONOMY AND JUDGMENT. THE MAXIMUM LEVEL (30/30) IS ATTRIBUTED WHEREAS THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A COMPLETE AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE ANALYZED INSTRUMENTS AND METHODS AND IS ABLE TO SOLVE THE PROPOSED PROBLEMS BY IDENTIFYING THE MOST APPROPRIATE COMPOSITE MANUFACTURING STRATEGIES AND SHOWS A REMARKABLE ABILITY IN THE PROCESSES PLANNING. THE FINAL MARK IS EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS WITH POSSIBLE HONOR. HONOR IS AWARDED WHEREAS THE CANDIDATE DEMONSTRATES SIGNIFICANT MASTERY OF THE THEORETICAL AND OPERATIONAL CONTENTS AND SHOWS HIS ABILITY TO PRESENT THE TOPICS WITH SIGNIFICANT LANGUAGE PROPERTIES AND AUTONOMOUS PROCESSING CAPACITY EVEN IN CONTEXTS OTHER THAN THOSE PROPOSED BY THE TEACHER. |
