Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
THE COURSE AIMS TO TRANSMIT TO STUDENTS THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE REGARDING THE DISCIPLINARY AND METHODOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF LIBRARIANSHIP, THE FUNCTION OF LIBRARIES IN CONTEMPORARY REALITY AND THE USE OF LIBRARY SERVICES.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE TEACHING AIMS TO OFFER A CRITICAL APPROACH TO THE PROBLEMS OF DOCUMENTARY RESEARCH (METHODOLOGY, RESEARCH CHANNELS AND TOOLS, EVALUATION AND USE OF RESOURCES WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO DIGITAL ENVIRONMENTS).

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO THE CONSCIOUS USE OF LIBRARY SERVICES, TO THE RESEARCH AND USE OF DOCUMENTARY RESOURCES IN THE DIGITAL SOCIETY, TO THE MANAGEMENT OF CATALOGING DATA, TO THE PROVISION OF BASIC LIBRARY SERVICES.

AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO LOCATE, LOCATE, ACQUIRE AND CONSCIOUSLY USE DATA AND DOCUMENTARY RESOURCES RELEVANT TO A RESEARCH, STUDY OR READING INTEREST.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO INTERACT WITH LIBRARIES AND DOCUMENTATION CENTERS AND EFFECTIVELY REPRESENT THEIR ACCESS NEEDS TO KNOWLEDGE RESOURCES.
Prerequisites
STUDENTS MUST HAVE ACQUIRED THE GENERAL CULTURAL KNOWLEDGE PROVIDED BY HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULA.

- CATALOGUES: STRUCTURE, FUNCTION, EVOLUTION
- OPAC AND DISCOVERY TOOLS
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 30 HOURS OF TEACHING BASED ON FRONTAL LECTURES WITH PROJECTIONS OF SLIDES, ONLINE MATERIALS, AND SEMINARS (6 UNIVERSITY CREDITS).
Verification of learning
THE EVALUATION WILL CONSIST OF AN ORAL EXAM, WHICH WILL EVALUATE THE KNOWLEDGE AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS AROUND THE CULTURAL AND SOCIAL FUNCTION OF LIBRARIES AND THE PROBLEMS OF DOCUMENTARY RESEARCH IN THE DIGITAL SOCIETY. FURTHERMORE, THE POSSESSION OF OPERATIONAL SKILLS REGARDING THE PROVISION OF BASIC LIBRARY SERVICES WILL BE ASCERTAINED. THE FINAL MARK IS ATTRIBUTED IN THIRTIETHS. SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE EXAMINATION WILL LEAD TO GRADES RANGING FROM 18 TO 30 WITH HONORS.
